RE: Please post your "end of the world" dreams here!!!
I have had a recurring dream since I was as young as I can remember, when I was a child, it used to terrify me, I would scream and call out for my father to come into my room...
I have had this dream since the 80's, long before movies such as 2012, Armageddon, etc came out.
My parents, being very religious, had ingrained the idea of the Apocalypse and Revelations into me since early childhood, so as I got older, I assumed it was just a regular nightmare caused by my mind attempting to process information that children should not be subject to.
2 years ago I volunteered to go to New Zealand, after the Christchurch Quake, to set up emergency claims centres that would process the worst of the claims.
It was not until I arrived in Auckland, that I realized that it was literally THE PLACE I had been having this nightmare about for 30+ years...
Take from this what you will, its merely a dream, but the setting IS New Zealand, I had never seen a place like New Zealand, except in this dream...
--------------------------------------
DREAM OF NEW ZEALAND'S DESTRUCTION:
Myself and a female companion (unrecognized) are walking along a motorway. (highway)
We are not behaving, there is no one around, and there are lines of deserted cars for miles. The motorway is small and crowded, it winds between huge, domed and rolling hills. The greenest hills I have ever seen.
The cars are abandoned, and there is no one in sight, the cars are not just in the road, they are up on the barriers, in the grass and in places they just should not be, as if they were thrown about, or maybe people were trying to escape the gridlock.
The female and I are bashing the car windows out, ecstatic that we are able to loot them, and finding all sorts of possessions that were left behind by the owners. We are jamming our packs full of things. There is no realization in the dream that anything is out of place or foreboding. We are just "kids" taking advantage of an opportunity...
Suddenly the ground begins to shake... I cannot stand, and am thrown to my kness, which bleed, then to the ground. I try to get up, but the ground shakes me back down. I watch in horror as the cars slide around like they are on an ice rink, and the female I was with is crushed between them, screaming and crying out for me to save here.
I try to crawl, but even that is completely futile... The female and the cars around me slide away, and off the motorway.
The road buckles all around me, and I am hit in the face with exploding bits of rock and asphalt, the dust in the air is making it hard to breathe, i feel as if I am about to die, and accept it...
Then the shaking stops. I get up, and begin to climb one of the near rolling green hills, thinking that I may be able to get above the dust and smoke. I am thrown down by aftershocks and shakes, and after what seems like an eternity, I make it to the top of one.
I look to the horizon, and see an orange glow, the air smells terrible, like rotten eggs, it is choking, but I manage to sit up and watch the horrors unfold around me.
The orange glow gets stronger, and I strain my eyes to see toward the end of the motorway, going away from the city. THERE IS A RIVER OF LAVA APPROACHING!!!!
At this point, I am terrified beyond belief, and I watch a fairly fast-moving RIVER of lava work its way down the valleys that the motorway occupies. As it hits the cars, they explode. Thousands of explosions and roars fill the languid, choking air, as I look on in utter shock and disbelief.
The stream of lava works its way past where I am standing, passing well below me in the "valley." The heat is unbearable, and I once again resign to my fate... I can no longer sit up, as I am beginning to lose consciousness. I beg God to help me, that I do not wish to leave this plane of existence, but my prayers fall upon deaf ears. It is my time.
The roar and explosions subside, and I hear the hissing of a snake slithering closer and closer toward me. My eyes are still open, and I can see, but I cannot move. How could this get any worse? I wonder. Why is there a snake coming towards me?
I soon realize that the sounds I am hearing are not that of a snake, as the hissing gets louder and louder, and the air gets heavier all around me. I see a wall of white smoke rushing toward me, and realize that the river of lava is being covered in water.
The water and the lava battle, spewing and hissing, sending massive explosions of rocks and crystalline formations shooting through the air like natures evil bullets.
The water rushes over the the lava, taking the same path initially as the lava did, but it is not stopping, it rises to where I am, and I look around as I am picked up and swept away. The whole landscape is covered in steaming water, there are no hills, no signs of life, just a hissing steaming ocean...
I close my eyes as I am swept away, and feel my body being crushed against things, the heat is unbearable and, I finally die.
