RE: Postal Service Update
consider the "post office" is broke because people like dennis coochiespinach voted that they have to give a large amount of money to Congress each year which prevents the ( private since the 90's) Post Office from showing a profit.

It would be a good thing if congress stepped in and saved the Post Office.

RE: Postal Service Update
the post office has never been private. Its a part of the federal govt.
The only reason why some people think that it is private, is because congress took the post office out of the u. s. treasury, because the post office generates its own revenue, through the stamp. Its the only agency which is required to prefund their retirees with a govt. health plan. That's why the post office was required to default.
Left to its own management, the post office would show a profit, with no cost to the taxpayer.
The defense contractors and bankers suck out most of your money, the post office doesn't cost you a nickle. Leave them alone.

Stereotypes you cure, mend the fiber of the world

RE: Postal Service Update
The post office solution is quite simple. Split it evenly down the middle 50% of routes to Fedex and the Other 50% to UPS as was done with Domestic DHL.

This is a very easy equation.

RE: Postal Service Update
Fedex and UPS lobby long working to break up the postal service and grab their profitable routes. But as government mail service is part of the US Constitution, I say restore the old Post Office Department, reappoint a Postmaster General and let his army of disgruntled postal workers liberated them private companies for the public good.
