RE: RIP Dick Clark
I find it interesting that he helped pioneer pop music as we know it (we wouldn't have American Idol without him), that he hosted the New Years Eve bash in NYC for forever, and hosted the 25,000 Pyramid show.

Rest in peace, Dick.

RIP Dick Clark.

I'm over it, the man was like 112 and the childhood memories still remain. Has anyone started a game of how many face lifts yet?

Dick Clark passed away... Wow. Used to watch him on American Bandstand many, many moons ago... Ok, so I am 42. But I remember watching him and grew quite fond of him. He was a truly class act. And yes, the Eternal Teenager fits him very well.

He can now literally be one as he runs Heaven's version of American Bandstand still rockin' and a rollin' jumpin' and a jivin'...

And yes, I also used to watch Don Cornelius and Soul Train as well.

As far as he and Michael Moore are concerned, no, DC wasn't being disrespectful to Moore. He did the right thing by getting completely away from him. His expression as he drives off is completely on target and priceless. This is why Dick Clark ruled so much (and still does). The New Year's Rockin' Eve will not be the same without him. Have also watched that one for some time except one time when it wasn't on for some reason. I'll miss him dearly...

If... you want to check out what DC was doing... He was deeply into The Stranglers... no conspiracy theory ... I was there.

Isn't there a sub-forum where LOPers can 'mourn' about and 'grieve' over celebrities who passed away?
Maybe set up a Book of Condolence too, for a perfect lasting keepsake.

chuckle That is so perfect....and now, we interupt well, everything to spin the amazing life of Dick Clark....I read in an interview that he famously once told Rolling Stone " "I'm not gonna sit here and tell you I did this solely to keep music alive, to perpetuate my own career first and foremost, and secondly the music." so...I thank him for his show(s) and his accidental contribution to music distribution...rest in peace and I hope Don Cornelius greets you with a big hug.

The only thing I can dig up and can find are that they are/were an English punk-type band...bigger hits in the 80's (always follow the sun, being one of their biggest). I'll keep checking, sounds interesting!

RE: RIP Dick Clark
It is sad about his passing, but he was compensated very well for his accomplishments. He put his flintstone house up for sale a couple of months ago, and it is a unique place.

Below is the link to the photo gallery of his house (modeled after the Flintstones):
