That's the whole point isn't it?

Cut loose the dependents into desperation so we can have a civil war instead of a revolution.

No offense to you, Jack. Food stamps are modern day soup lines.

It's just a way to make the depression invisible.

It's about wages, people who have only had a 3% cost of living increase in 20 years can't afford to buy shit that costs 200% more than it did then. People with college degrees live like ditch diggers did 40 years ago and without borrowed money this house of cards would have come crashing down in the early 1980s.

Spot on.

Quote:But Reagan – possibly more than any political leader – deserves the blame for the economic/political mess that the United States now finds itself in. He was the patriarch for virtually every major miscalculation that the country has made over the past three decades.

It was Reagan who slashed taxes on the rich to roughly their current level; he opened the flood gates on deficit spending; he accelerated the decline of the middle class by busting unions and slashing support for local communities; he disparaged the value of government regulations; he squandered money on the Pentagon; he pushed more militaristic strategies abroad; and he rejected any thoughtful criticism of past U.S. foreign policies.

Quote:It is an ironic testament to Ronald Reagan’s enduring influence that America’s most notable “populist” movement, the Tea Party, insists that tax cuts for the wealthy must be protected, even minor ones like tax loopholes for corporate jets. Inside the Tea Party, any suggestion that billionaire hedge-fund managers should pay a tax rate equal to that of their secretaries is anathema.

Possibly never in history has a “populist” movement been as protective of the interests of the rich as the Tea Party is. But that is because it is really a political cult dedicated to the most extreme rendering of Ronald Reagan’s anti-government philosophy.

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure
and the intelligent are full of doubt.

Here's a tip, its not just one party doing these things.
True, but for whatever reason the economy always seems to do better
when Democrats are in power:

Republicans always try to claim that it's because of what they did
before Democrats came back into power.

A pox on both their crooked houses. When are we going to get a viable
3rd party that will f*ck with the current system of K Street control of
Congress?

Yet no mention of cutting corporate welfare. Screw the poor and give to the rich. Most on food stamps don't want to be there. The stereotype of the welfare generational family applies to a very small percentage of those using government supports.

Ironically, I've always done better under fake conservatives than under neoliberals.

Personally.

The "seems like" economy always has high inflation.

As opposed to the in your face asshole economy, where yuppies didn't drive up my housing and food costs as much.
