There's nothing intrinsically wrong with a FIAT currency.

The problem with the gold standard besides the fact FT. Knox is probably empty, and what the FED is holding is largely foreign, is that that always becomes a basis for fractional reserve lending that banks can use to threaten governments.

Loosen the lending, you create a boom. Tighten the lending, you create a depression.
Tht's how they harvest our wealth, and get congress to do their bidding(along with bribes)

The problem with a paper standard is congress is tempted to spend more than they have every election cycle to please their constituents.

But that's really the only problem with a FIAT currency.

Silver is a good middle ground because it has value and isn't completely impractical for carrying around, but it isn't necessary.

What's necessary is that money become a public utility not a private control mechanism.
