Considering our do nothing 'Congress' DOES NOTHING that in effect is positive for Americans, how does the Presidency matter anyway, outside of being the willing scapegoat?

The entire government needs to be abolished in order to bring it back to the people. Unless Ron Paul is willing to dismantle the whole thing, including the military industrial complex in it's entirety, nothing changes, in my humble opinion.

There's a lot a president can't do without support from the congress.

But there's a whole lot a president CAN DO without them, including revoking executive orders, and aiming the justice department towards the real criminals.

Ron Paul hasn't talked about that, so there's no reason to believe he plans to do that, but he would appoint an ethical attorney general, the senate would have a real hard time not confirming one, and that's what an ethical attorney general would do.

I don't expect Ron to fix the federal government single-handedly, and good people CAN DISAGREE with some of his policies/philosophy but

EVERYBODY should want fair elections so

You have way more faith in this broken system than I do. Nothing can be done to change the corruption in this government outside of abolishing the whole thing. No one gets to Washington and stays there that isn't a willing player in this game of deceit. On the face of things, Ron Paul 'seems' to be the ideal candidate, perhaps he's the exception, but the rest of the garbage that has been rotting in Washington serve their own masters, and we aren't them.
