Ron Paul says criticism of Obama on oil spill is wrong
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/...l-spill-/1
President Obama's handling of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico got a boost of sorts from an unlikely source: Republican Ron Paul.
The Texas congressman, known for his libertarian world view, said on the Don Imus show today on Fox Business News that he believes attacks on Obama's response to the oil spill have been too harsh. "I just don't see the justification for coming down hard on the president," Paul said.
Paul said the criticism of Obama "represents the idea that the American people think the president is everything to everybody, that he can fix an oil leak. Somebody says 'well, the government should do more.' I say I'm in the government and I don't know anything about fixing oil leaks."
So if a company f*cks up,he wouldnt do anything.. great ROnnie boy,you suck

Ron Paul cannot possibly know everything thats going on. But to a degree he is right, indeed it should be BP who are held to account. IMO BP shoukd be wound up and the proceeds of the company put into cleaning up thier hideous crime.

Who's gonna FORCE them to do the right thing?
The Gov't took Exxon to court over the Exxon-valdez oil spill that devastated the waters and beaches of Alaska, that ruined the lives of many Alaskans, especially those in the fishing industries. It shouldn't be any different for the folks living along the Gulf Coast.

Without governmental intervention BP wouldnt have done anything.
And dont tell me that they could have sued, cause they did and NOTHING happened.

I agree with you, but post some better sources.
I don't believe in the magic of the free market.
I don't think Ron is the Messiah, and his son Ayn is kind of a turd.
Naomi Jagoda is an "Occupy Wall Street"er.
She is a political science major and a hack.
I'd like to hear all Ron said, not just a tiny quote she posted in the opinion section.
I don't doubt he said what she wrote, and I don't doubt everything else he said was along the same lines. He believes the free market can fix the environment.
That's dumb, we all know better than that. His economic philosophy is very flawed.
But I still support his candidacy because of all the good things he does support, and the fact our regulatory agencies have all been totally corrupted. They might as well be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch.
That's a shitty way to deal with it, and it would require growing some real democrats, but that's gotta happen regardless of Ron.

He does not rebuild them. He jjust wants them to go away and let the free market fill the blanks...

Right.
HE won't rebuild them.
He will try to get rid of them.
I hope he does.
Because democrats need to get MAD. Mad enough to either FIX THEM or rebuild them.
Give Ron a one term presidency. Let him have carte blanche.
End the Wars, end the fed, take the wrecking ball to hundreds of laws, regulations, and a half dozen agencies.
Then come up with a REAL DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE and fix what BOTH PARTIES BROKE.
Or elect Ralph Nader. You guys have to do something you pretend to support.
At least Ron will do what he says he will do.
Or try to.
We know what republicans are. They at least have integrity as assholes.
I don't blame them for that.
Democrats need to front their own Ron Paul and quit bashing him. I don't care if you fight him once he's in, but Romneybama is killing us.
We can survive Ron.

What's your beef with OWSers. There just may be a few on the forum you interact with.

An Obama/Paul ticket would destroy the GOP, or at least make that group irrelevant. Help clean up America.

They only had one DEMAND.
Tobin tax on Wall Street transactions.
That's a good demand, but they didn't push it, and it's not enough.
They need a full set of demands, and we need a general strike to make them get met.
They never called for that.
I don't have a problem with the OWSers on this board.
But the main organization operates on consensus, and that doesn't work in groups larger than a hunter-gatherer tribe.

Your assessment is accurate and inaccurate at the same time. As a footnote if you research the board you'll be surprised that some influence on the original ows action came from a post right here on this board. They did have a full set of demands, besides Olbermann nobody in the MSM covered it. I agree with the problem you suggested. They let too many activists distract them from their primary objective. Hopefully things will change by the end of spring.

RE: Ron Paul says criticism of Obama on oil spill is wrong
I love RP, but he is just flat out wrong here.
If he can't think of anything critical, then he should just shut his trap, lol.
There is more than enuf reasons to be critical of O on the spill, too long to list.
O allowed BP to erase all internal docs about how much oil was actually leaking......instead of forcing the issue to prevent it.
O has approved BP to continue drilling in the Gulf with VERY LITTLE assurance a similar disaster would not occur again.........except BP's "promises" ...cough...bullshit.
OP u ask a good question at the end about RP.
If he thinks O handled this well, then RP just knocked out his justifications to be prez. on at least one major level.
But I still like RP and give him a long rope..........
