AS long as the virus is in a reservoir in some animal species, it will continue to pop up in humans who have contact with the animals anywhere in the world that those animals may be found. Thus SARS will revisit the newspaper headlines over and over again until science finds a way to eradicate the virus. Right now, that is seen as impossible, but you never know what we may discover tomorrow.

With the pilgrimages to Mecca for the faithful Islamics this is a very bad thing.

Knowing about the pilgrimages, it sets my mind to thinking and thinking and thinking. If the virus that was killing so many butchers in China in 2005 was a bioweapon, could there be other ones out there???

In the back of my mind, I wonder if this is a bioweapon release by Israel or China, or some other dysfunctional country or group out there. If people start falling over dead out there by the dozens in the next few days, then we will know that it is an improved SARS virus.

We need to watch this closely.

From the UK Health Protection Agency press release raise concerns that the number of SARS-CoV cases is significantly higher than the two confirmed cases (60M and 49M), which were infected by a novel SARS-CoV “closely related to bat cornonavires” which are the natural reservoir for the 2002/2003 SARS-CoV identified in mainland China, which then spread to Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and Canada from a physician who treated patients in Guangdong Province ands then traveled to Hong Kong for a wedding.
