work SURVIVE 2012 Tips on Bugging out ask me a ?
Seems there is a lot of buzz and fear over impending disasters. The fact is that FEMA has been telling us to prepare, so lets get down to biz. I even changed my avatar so you can see me before I bugged out in the spring of 2011. Grandma here worked with 3 different hunting guides, the work is good since few jobs in the sticks. I have some disability issues and even used a electric wheelchair due to MSM. Lifestyle changes a year in advance with help from the Good Lord my Creator helped say adios to food, housing and big pharma. Cutting ties was the freedom I needed. A lot would call me homeless. Starting from scratch I lived out of a tent for over 6 months. I am glad I found out what things could be like without anyone knowing your reputation, backround.

This was not a hunting trip, or a camping weekend. As I sit here I miss my camp as having Mountain Lions, bear and moose for neighbors is less scary than being in town this last month. People have changed over the years and this was one big eye opener.

If anyone has any problem with references to a Creator by posters or myself well suck it up. You may be enlightened and some oblivious. Lesson one, a study using mice. Mice where placed into a tub of water, they swam and swam to keep from drowning. Each time the tech had to remove them was timed. Each time they where placed back in the water the[/size]y would swim a little longer before starting to give up then a human hand removed them. Finely the mice, knowing that help would arrive where swimming a astounding long time, they had hope.

Mentally preparedness is important, mentally cutting bonds with treasures so when the time comes your not distracted by emotions. Bad enough in a situation to have to cry over a xbox or all your keepsakes.

Post questions, concerns and we can all work together to make this a thread that can help everyone. At one time the US had over 500 tribes of Indians with a lot of different beliefs. We still have a good Powwow. Let the one who made us have the job of being the Judge.

Now I will post some links on comments on basic stuff, do a little each day, what you can. When we are prepared it helps lesson our fear and knowledge is key to this.

RE: SURVIVE 2012 Tips on bugging out from a BUG
Here are some notes on one important topic. Poo Poo. Now I have some notes I will copy and paste. Remember this is the downfall of people bugging out in numbers, it spreads disease, gives you the runs, so lets explore this a bit.

The World Health Org. estimates that the average adult produces about one liter- some 2 pounds worth of excreta per day, half of that being solid waste. That is a lot of shit!.

In a month the Great Smoky Mountains National Park reported 3,220 overnight stays, 2,311 in the backcountry on one winter month. That amounts to 120 tons of excreta in just one off season month. Now with inexperianced hords you can imagine the amount of germs you will be exposed to even in the air.

A simple garden shovel can dig a cat hole, learn more here with other valuable solutions.

here is a cool video on how to dig a cat hole just how the Army teaches you eh

Bio gel is a powder that only takes a little and will gel up liquid and waste to be safely thrown in garbage. This is a great idea to have this as in urban areas garbage will collect and smell. This stuff cuts the smell and can be piled untill it can be tossed responsibly.

Here is a link to get you started with researching this.

They also have a great fold up jug that holds a lot of water, keep in mind how much you can load in your car, or if having to flee quickly what you can carry on your back, on your kids back or dogs...

Hi turtle,
I have a good friend, who writes about this kind of stuff.
Bought the book myself out of curiosity and interest.
I’m impressed about the amount of info he provides us
It’s like SAS guide, but expanded.

I have this in my supplies.
I just purchased the lid and added some supplies, t-paper, wipes, and biogel bags.

I use it when camping and in hurricanes if needed.--remember if your water is cut off in an emergency, your toilet will flush, it just won't fill with water, so keep a bucket of water nearby for flushing.

This looks like a great asset to have. Now I am prior military. I am not in a combat situation and am just coming from experience as a civilian. The Army did train me in a lot of things, like how to pay attention to detail, following orders. Well I have not lived in a Army encampment in the last 18 months. I cannot call the MP's or deal with Meth heads for example as if I am some authority where there is no authority. I did work in the mental health field besides medical for years with police holds so besides basic street smarts this really helped also.

Bury the bio-gel bags or place them in garbage bags.

During Ike, I took a 5 gallon bucket to the ditch and filled it with water for the toilet. You can use pool water as well, in cases where you have advance notice, filling up tubs and washing machines is good for this.

I keep plenty of baby wipes around so you can keep yourself clean in an emergency where bathing everyday isn't feasible.

Personally I drink spring water from underground sources, in the mountains there are springs. I have not boiled water very often but use a simple filter (Britta) and I also like there portable drinking bottles with filters. I also haul a huge water jug just for that, and lived by a creek here in MT.

You first have to see how they get water in your area, and also do some research on the quality, alkaline, so on. It can take a lot of time for me to store a lot of stuff to either have it taken by a passerby, eaten, cut wood stolen, so I basically do like the Turtle Mountain people did and not store a whole lot, less to haul around when I have to go someplace.
