Oy. I don't know if I should believe official news reports anymore, but sometimes I gotta' take the stories at face value, and if I've been misled, then maybe I'll find out about it later (or not!).
Sounds pretty rough. This is another troubling trend I've seen reported on though (stand-offs between police and holed-up citizens). I guess if the guy killed his family, I don't really have sympathy for him, but again, sometimes the whole truth doesn't get out into the public arena...

So you spend 8 years building an elaborate endoftheworld survivalist bunker that will sustain you through the worst that could happen... and you kill your family (whom you would assume you were building it for to protect them) and then go there alone?

Interesting note for the record, City of Seattle SWAT teams have surrounded the bunker, which is about 30 miles from the Seattle city limits. It seems they are out of their jurisdiction, wonder how that works?

Court documents also reveal that:

The fire was set by placing a plastic gas can into a skillet on the stove and turning on the burner
Keller was known to have a gun collection and body armor - all the weapons were missing from the home
Keller had withdrawn $6,200 in cash from his bank account on Friday
The safe in the home was left open, as was the door of a shed
Keller purchased a new laptop computer within the last two weeks
Keller's mountain bike is missing

"Based on the facts that we have right now, we believe that violent death came to Lynnettee and Kaylene unexpectedly in their home from a family member who had been familiar and trusted," Sheriff Steve Strachan said at a news conference.

"The obvious question is how much danger does Keller present for hikers, campers and the public," said Strachan.

"I don't think we need to be fearful, but we do need to be aware and use common sense to stay safe. If you're hiking or using areas of the mountains carry a cell phone, do not confront Keller, and let us know if you see or know anything about his location," said Strachan.

I'm convinced now, I'm going to completely stop prepping and cease trips to my families land and other remote areas to practice living off the land. It's simply not worth it to me, clearly if I practice such techniques I'll turn into a raging murderer and slay everybody in my path.

They are just making an attempt to CONCOCT a psychological connection in people's minds between preppers and people who murder their family hence the amount of attention this will be given when we know from statistics that most of the freaks who kill their families are "lifelong company men" who believe everything the MSM tells them up until the day things don't go their way and then they do something atrocious.

You see more cops, stock brokers and government employees whack out and kill their family than you do survivalists but of course that isn't going help promote the police state agenda like this will.
