Search widens for missing Newtown man

At the time, Lori Hoagland was traveling back from a 17-day vacation in Turkey. She discovered her husband missing after he failed to pick her up at LaGuardia Airport the morning of July 29.

I guess now he was to meet her at LaGuardia. (Initial stories all said JFK)

Now, we've got a strange-turn-of-events.

Here is what we know regarding the "HelpUsFindHoagy" Facebook page.
1) a user who has posted several "tough" questions regarding the case has been banned from the site.

2) those questions that were asked have never been addressed, and they are simple, in nature.

3) A post linking to the GLP thread (over 20 pages long) has been deleted.

4) A trail of mis-information surrounding the case has been delivered to authorities and the media is coming directly from the wife, Lori.

This may not be a case that relates to the drug-using son, Max, but instead something sinister from the wife, Lori, who was "conveniently gone" during the crime, has a perfect alibi, and probably wanted him out of the picture. She, herself had her own private Facebook account and it appears from some posts on other pages that the two weren't getting along recently. The wife's reaction to the "missing husband" is eerily similar to the acting job "Robbie Parker" performed the day after his daughter was killed. Her response and how she handled the case, is strikingly odd.

Next question is this....was there a recent life insurance policy update, etc, because it seems to me, someone wanted this man dead.

You guys notice how the media COMPLETELY stopped talking about Sandy Hook when people started questioning it?

This story is staying right within some "narrative" and no other options/opinions are taken seriously.

We have yet to hear from ANYONE on Robert's side of the family. (for instance his own siblings or cousins, parents.) He is from Diamond Bar, CA and there isn't anything in their local papers and nothing at all on facebook or twitter regarding this story with the exception of Lori's version.

Max has said nothing and doesn't post on his own facebook wall, but is recently active with adding friends, etc.

Haven't seen anything from the other son, Sam.

We have only seen some random posts (with some anger/resentment) from their son Chris.

The only pics of Lori, the wife, are two similar lovey-dovey pics that fit nicely with the "happy couple" narrative.

Here is some info on the wife, Lori:

On her blog, she describes herself as:

city rat. country dweller. cookbook writer. carnivore. crossword puzzler. cinema lurker. curly haired clog wearer. caseophile. tea drinking teacher.

On a more serious note, the missing man, Robert Hoagland, is friends with the only person known to have mentioned shooters escaping on an ATV.

Hoagland's house is on the edge of Rocky Glen State Park, which is accessible by a quick ride through the woods behind Sandy Hook School, a couple of wooded back yards, and then to a small bridge leading into the park.

One theory is that Hoagland saw/heard the ATV(s), and mentioned it to his friend.

Hoagland is also a real estate assessor in a town known for contentious, high-stakes property disputes.

A number of people connected to Hoagland have died, likely including the last known person to have seen him at his home--a neighbor who was later questioned by police, and who passed away a week after Robert's disappearance.

Stranger, and stranger.

That whole damn town stinks. Remember the 300 gallons of human urine they found stashed in an abandoned home near the school?

Wha? This sounds like an episode of Eureka.

New, updated article from 15 minutes ago. (The airport in this story has switched three times now....going from "JFK" to "LaGuardia" to now simply, "Kennedy" airport.

Do we have a name?

"A neighbor saw him in the yard between 10 and 11 a.m."

Is this the neighbor that brought over the new puppy?

also this from the wife:

"We just need to know," she said. "We're hoping for the best, but we want some resolution and closure."

An "odd" thing to say when looking for a loved one. This story is bogus, and it has "foul play" written all over it.

Police Search Lake Zoar For Missing Sandy Hook Man

Bit by bit, piece by piece, police and a group of volunteers are separately seeking to assemble a jigsaw puzzle of sorts that would point the way to the missing Robert “Hoagy” Hoagland, 50, of Glen Road, Sandy Hook, a man who went missing from his home in late July and has not been heard from since.

On Sunday, September 1, police, working with Newtown Underwater Search And Rescue (NUSAR) and the Lake Zoar Authority Marine Patrol, searched a section of Lake Zoar upriver of the Rochambeau Bridge in seeking any evidence of Mr Hoagland.

That Lake Zoar search turned up no clues in terms of Mr Hoagland’s whereabouts, Police Chief Michael Kehoe said September 3. The searchers worked a section of the lake between Rochambeau Bridge the Shady Rest section of Sandy Hook.

Mr Hoagland is a real estate appraiser, who is self-employed and also works for an attorney in Bridgeport.

He was last publicly seen inside the convenience store at the Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road at about 6:45 am on Sunday, July 28.

Mr Hoagland is white, 6 feet tall, and weighs 175 pounds. He is bald and has blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts.

Later that day, he was last seen at his home before his disappearance.

“It’s still an active investigation,” Chief Kehoe said, adding that police detectives work on the Hoagland case daily in seeking clues to his whereabouts.

There has been no recent credit card activity or cellphone activity related to Mr Hoagland, the police chief said.

Newtown police are working closely with Bridgeport police on the case, Chief Kehoe said.

On the day after Mr Hoagland disappeared, Bridgeport police charged his son Max, 23, with third-degree criminal trespassing. He was held on bail on the charge until August 15, when he pleaded guilty in court to the violation and was then given an unconditional discharge by a judge.

Lori Hoagland, Mr Hoagland’s wife, said September 4 that the incident that resulted in her son’s arrest in Bridgeport is not related to her husband’s disappearance.

More on the son...

kinda comical...

But a Sandy Hook, Conn. man did Lee one better when he was arrested this weekend for allegedly stealing $647 worth of gum and condoms, police said.

Maxtone Hoagland, 23, of Glen Road in Sandy Hook was charged with fifth-degree larceny after he tried to make off with the gum and contraceptives from the Kings Highway Cutoff , according to the report.

His house is through the woods behind the school? So he lives near the Masonic lodge?

Robert's son, Max, 23, recently served 16 days in jail for "trespassing" in Bridgeport, CT (30 miles away from their Sandy Hook home)....the trespassing charge was because he was in the area to "buy drugs".

He's living at home, Mom is abroad in Turkey, Dad had $600 that is now missing and Max decides to go to Bridgeport to score some drugs? I would assume that the Bridgeport police found the cash on him or in the VW Golf. Now his dad is missing, but his empty wallet and car keys to the mini cooper are hiding "under a doll" on a bedroom chair? Wouldn't Max be the first one questioned in this whole thing?
