Nobody seems to catch that, though earthlike, it is NOT a place where we could live. It has 4.5 times the mass of Earth, so it has 4.5 times the Gravity. If you weighed 170 lbs on earth you'd weigh 765 lbs there. Really want to lug all that weight around?

my sister does

Because we're getting better at finding them. That's what science does.

That should tell you something... Namely, that good old 'Mother' Earth ain't nearly as unique and special as SOME would have you believe.

Hmmm...

so if a newly discovered 'earth like planet' has even yet to manifest oxygen emitting plant life, and other animals/living beings roaming around on it....

then it's apparently not habitable...nor 'earth like'.

I could be wrong, but we don't yet have good ways to detect oxygen in earth sized planets light years away.

They're calling them earth-like based on their distance from their host star and their size.

Correct.

Exactly.... The adherants of certain belief systems are not good at thinking out of their little box.

it's one thing to have an imagination..

yet quite another when you promote science as being THE only authority of 'truth'.... even while you conjecture out of your posterior with proclamations that fly in the face of known scientific laws and the perimeters it places on our human existence.

I don't know anybody who does that.

Oh he's just talking about ME... I have that effect on the Christers.

and to THAT other poster... Speaking of TRUTH... YOUR religion? TRUTH?

Jptdknpa

Pardon me...

Correct.

which are only two ingredients in the complex recipe for what qualifies as 'habitable' as some here might be thinking, which seems to be habitable for life as we know it.
