Serious Question!
How do you handle people?

If you had to "supervise oh, about 50-60 people daily, most between the ages of 20-26 what methods would you use?

Any tips or tricks?

Cheer

It is better to be respected than loved.

It is better to be feared than respected.

Kidding. What's the context? Office?

I've only managed about 15 people at a time.

RE: Serious Question!
I've long term managed a team of about 10 and short term managed a main team of 8 with about 35-40 under them. Some were beyond 12-20 folks, managing tends to start becoming a faceless, emotionless task. It becomes often more about the position being handled than about the person. People respond to that. If they feel like robots or cogs in the wheel, that is how they react. If you give even small personal touches (like bringing donuts or bagels to a meeting, making it important to know not only the persons name but just a little about their life, treat each member as equally as possible, etc) people will respond. They will see you also as a person and often want to help with what is asked.

Give them nasty stares, use fear to make them conform to your will.

Just relax, and help them relax.

RE: Serious Question!
You enthusiastically look forward to tackling your mission or goal and you try to move things to achieve it. The members of the group that are positive and show ability will be noted while those that drag their feet or lack competence are successfully trained, or let go. (at this point, I would eliminate the potential suckasses)
Then you work as a team leader and show them you are willing to do hard and dirty work or whatever it takes, and have the answers to problems that come up, and they will respect that and you will be a respected and effective boss. Without respect, you wouldn't want the position. The mid level leaders will reveal themselves. You delegate authority to these supervisors, and you go off to be the manager.
A lot of long lunches, hot secretaries, rounds of golf and business trips will all be yours.
There, I saved you six months of management school.chuckle
