Skippy's Lucid Dream Thread. Ever Have One?
I remember the dream because it was the kind where you realize you are dreaming and you can take control of it a little. It wasn't a complete lucid dream but it was close. In the dream I was at work at the front desk of the Inn I work at. It was at night and I was trying to take a reservation but I couldn't see the reservation card because the power was out. I tried flipping on some switches but nothing worked. It was then that I realized I was dreaming and I went out to the porch. There was snow on the ground.

This was before any talk of Hurricane Sandy, snow and power outages.

Dreams are hellish if you have unresolved issues. Mine are always fun. I fly around and look for babes.

Lmao

The dream I remember most is when I was flying around my small apartment in Tennessee. I went to my computer to see if I could get on the internet in my dream but that was a bit too much to ask. I then flew into my kitchen and opened the fridge and it was stocked full of Coors Light. I tried to open one and drink it but that was sensory overload and I woke up.

RE: Skippy's Lucid Dream Thread. Ever Have One?
Sorry, Skip. Not really. I'm "in control" of my actions, and I'm aware I'm dreaming, but nothing really goes "off the script". I tried to fly once because I thought it should be possible. When I was little, I imagined that my action figures flew because of jets in their heels. (There were often little posing divits there.) So, when I flew, I had thrust from my heels, but I really had to struggle to keep a steady altitude, etc. Landing was horrible, because I had to fly fast along the ground and then "bubble up" to fall softly. Oh, crap... sometimes I have anti-gravity dreams. Those suck, too. Maybe I don't even try to lucid dream because it always goes wrong?

They always "go wrong" because it's your subconscious mind battling your conscious mind for control. The more control you gain, the more lucid of a dream. I had a few that scared the hell out of me but they were closer to sleep paralysis dreams. Those can be rough.

RE: Skippy's Lucid Dream Thread. Ever Have One?
yes i have them often...i can remember when it first happened. i was 5yrs old and falling down a hole in my dreams and i suddenly realized i could make myself fall slower and land unhurt.

they used to scare me because lucid dreams for me were often accompanied by an episode of sleep paralysis..which is no fun at all. now that i'm older it's still disconcerting but i know how to handle sp better.

I almost had a heart attack once from a sleep paralysis.... Since then, like you said, I've gained better understanding of how both hemispheres of my consciousness works and I try to enjoy all of my dreams. I always fly when I realize I'm dreaming.

i get sp on avg every 2 or 3 weeks..sometimes it will go as long as two months. but i've come to accept it's a part of my sleep patterns. pretty much i just lay there and try to wiggle a finger or toe and eventually i come out of it...but it took me many years to not go into a complete panic.

the one thing i have not been able to do is look at a clock and tell the time..it's always blurry and when i push to bring it into focus...i lose the balance and get pulled out of the dream.

i have however been able to have sex...go figure. im a scorpio..of course i had to try chuckle

RE: Skippy's Lucid Dream Thread. Ever Have One?
On numerous occasions I get out of bed and get in the shower. After that I dry off and brush my teeth and comb my hair then I proceed to get dressed. This process takes about 30 minutes. Just when I’m ready to leave the house for the day I wake up and realize that I had dreamt all of that. It seemed so real but I have to get out bed and do it all over again even though it was like I had already just done it.

Put a clock in your shower and check the time frequently. If you are dreaming, you'll have trouble reading it and know you are dreaming. Thanks to the earlier poster for that idea!!!

I fly around and look for women. It's fun when you catch one... chuckle

I mentioned your clock hypothesis to another poster that has problems with reoccuring dreams of getting ready for work.
