Hmmm.

I'd say there will definately be some looting and chaos if power is out for more than a couple of days.

We tend to focus on the bad in people that these events bring out. They bring out a lot of good in people too. Personally I'm rooting for the return of Gozer the Gozarian. The formula is perfect. You think evil only exists in urban areas and by people's drive for materialistic things while supporting those in high economic status who divide you using the hype of the evil of the people of lower economic status. Theres some good in some of those people though, a lot more than they get credit for. But like I said, I'm rooting for Gozer. Sometimes bad people needs something more bad ass than themselves to shake them back "down to earth". Have a good night.

This is true. But I think the one of the main reasons it's much more common in urban areas is the anonymity that a mob provides. If you live in a town where everyone knows everyone else, it's much less common.

I doubt it. 9/11 changed NY - I was in the blackout in NYC in 2002-2003 (can't remember the year). Was stuck in the city and was amazed how everyone pulled together and no violence, no looting, just everyone getting along, helping each other - and this was in Manhattan. I was stuck their overnight and was worried about what would transpire - but what I saw restored my faith in people - of course that was a 24 hr blackout - but it impacted the whole city. Power outages here could be longer. but I think it will be ok

New Yorkers have their flaws but they are a little more rational than poor blacks in New Orleans. There will be problems but nothing like that nonsense.
