The Sun and Moon in alignment set up tides on BOTH sides of earth. These quakes ocurred 12 hours before the eclipse starts. Other than that it's wild speculation.

Yeah that's what I thought.

Sometimes I think people forget how common earthquakes are.

Japan has earthquakes very frequently, and always has.

Through media hysteria, people have been lead to believe that there frequency is increasing.

Yep.. Used to live in Kamisaya, Misawa and Yokosuka.. One day on my way home from school in Misawa, the ground shook so bad I landed on my face on the concrete.. Jumped up as fast as I could, ran home to find everything all over the floor..

There has been an increase in large earthquakes and they seem connected to low solar activity.

I would think there is more connection to the fukushima quake event than to you theory.

Just saying. Large quakes are usually followed by several years of activity.

You may be right. Are you able to see the eclipse where you are. I see you're equipped with goggles.

Relationship between global seismicity and solar activities
It has been found that: Earthquakes occur frequently around the minimum years of solar activity.

Also explosive volcanic eruptions -

Explosive volcanic eruptions triggered by cosmicrays
This strong association between eruption timing and the solar minimum is statistically significant to a confidence level of 96.7%.
