abduct Some Contractor wanted to charge me $4,700 To hang Cabinets
The floor will be done all they would of had to do is tear out and hang 6 new base cabinets and 6 new wall hangers...They are a local company in New Cumberland..They guy dropped off the estimate in my mailbox.. I called him back and All I could do was laugh in his face.. $4,700 for 3 men for a day and a half wort of labor...This was for Cabinets and tear out only.. No counter tops or anything else.. BTW My and a friend could tear out the old cabinets in under 3 hours.. and that includes the driving to the dump for disposal...The moral of this story... Do not be afraid to laugh in someones face...Lmao

um, well. I completely agree with you, or even disagree if that is what you are after.

Lots to consider while installing cabinets, but any diy'er should be able to manage. Get the right screws, the right tools...not a big deal but definitely plan on it taking some time.

I think these guys were the kind that try and railroad little old ladies into giving them their life savings...The guy on the phone (Partner) kept trying to tell me that he did not do the figuring on the estimate he just dropped it off.. What a crock of shit.. His name is on the card.. The estimate was not that hard to figure out.. Labor to tear out and hang new cabinets in their place... (The kitchen is very small)..All I could do was Jptdknpa

RE: Some Contractor wanted to charge me $4,700 To hang Cabinets
Man I bought all my cabinets for a kitchen as flat pack for under $2000.00
Took one day to put them all together and another day to install (on my own).
That included 2 sets of pot drawers and all soft close knock down fittings.
Some "tradesmen" are just thieves.

CENSORED (by popular demand).

These will come put together for about $3500.. I guess the hanging was free the rest was going toward disposal of the mt Boxes...chuckle

Weeeellllll, are you going to do it right, or just 1/2 ass it like most home owners? I agree the price seems quite stiff (state varies), but are they legit with all of the current federal and state mandated insurances and lead safety programs needed to operate in these fine lands? Were they planning on redoing the drywall, and soffit? Any customized cabinetry work needed to make the units space/fit correctly? etc etc...

There is a little more to doing the job properly than just slapping cabinets up on a wall if you expect them to be installed properly....

Just sayin'

RE: Some Contractor wanted to charge me $4,700 To hang Cabinets
I called a plumber once,

he came out and fixed a leak.

He charged $350

I told him, dude that only took you 30 minutes.

that means you make $700 per hour, Im an attorney and I only make $80 and hour.

He said, yeah thats what I made when I practiced law.

Honestly very simple install.. All stock sizes..(Again the Kitchen is small).. No drywall repair .. The plumbing is new so that is a simple disconnect.. I redid all the electrical..so that is new..About the hardest thing they would of had to do was to drill a hole in the back of the cabinets above the microwave to run the plug into the receptacle...
