Well, that's the whole problem in a nutshell.

EU Austerity Treaty Must Be Opposed, Gerry Adams Urges
April 21, 2012 • 10:36AM
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams called for a NO vote in the European Union Austerity Treaty referendum on May 31st. Speaking in the Dáil on Thursday, in the debate on the 30th Amendment of the Constitution (Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union) Bill 2012, the Sinn Féin leader accused the government and Fianna Fail of trying to "bully and blackmail citizens into voting Yes."
Adams declared,
"Austerity has failed, in this state and in states across Europe where unemployment is rising and poverty and hardship are the only growth industries. The dire social consequences of austerity are to be found in every household struggling to pay mortgages and household bills; on every main street where businesses are shutting down; and in every hospital and school where reduced resources are hurting the sick and the young.
"The pitiable images of an elderly couple evicted from their home in Dublin is another example of the failure of austerity. Some 100,000 households are currently in mortgage distress with 91 more joining that number each day. This is unacceptable. Austerity simply doesn't work. And this Austerity Treaty will hand over significant control of fiscal and budgetary matters to un-elected EU officials...

Spain deserves to starve to death.
Oh really? You really feel so cruel as to say that about their innocent children too? Careful what you say, this country will see it too.
Children with stupid and unfit parents suffer.
That's the way reality works.
Spain is populated with lazy, cowardly Socialists.
They are getting exactly what they deserve, whether I wish them to or not.
And yes, America's turn is coming up.
A lot of really stupid parents are going to cause their children to suffer, because they voted for Hope and Change.
Well, the piper is about ready to be paid for that grotesque display of retardation.

There will be a panic spike into gold / silver / physical stuff
for a brief period. It's hard to know how long the spike will last.
If you look at the last gold panic (1979),
the spike last two years or so.

My original guess in 2001
was that gold would reach at least $1600/oz.
At this point, I think it's likely
to hit at least $3K during the panic spike.
I would sell at $3K.

Once you trade out of gold,
once again, I'd take a cue from the late 1970s
The prime buy in 1980 was gov't debt,
it peaked around 18% interest,
because nobody wanted to hold paper anymore.
I wouldn't buy US debt
but I'd look at a relatively balanced country
like Germany or Switzerland.
Of course, you probably need to be out of the US
for that to work, because there will be capital
controls and confiscation.

RE: Spain is About to Enter a Full-Scale Collapse
The real trick of any of this
is to understand what's happening.
The most instructive book I ever read was
The Great Reckoning by James Davidson, circa 1991.
He correctly called the current environment in general,
although he called it far too early, he underestimated
the lengths that Greenspan would go to in 2001 to
keep the paper system going.
But what's important is the historical context
and methodology of thought
in the book.
Jimmy Rodgers is a contemporary of James Davidson,
although he's been much more successful, financially.
