banana State to feds: We won't cooperate
Legislation defying Obama on track to become law

A Virginia proposal that declares state workers and resources will be unavailable should Barack Obama decide to exercise provisions in the newest National Defense Authorization Act regarding the detention of U.S. citizens has begun moving forward again.

House Bill 1160 was adopted by lawmakers last month, and the deadline for Gov. Bob McDonnell to address the controversy arrived last night. A spokesman in his office told WND today the governor recommended some adjustments to the proposal, and its chief sponsor in the statehouse says those will be made, and it then is expected to become law.

The bill addresses several obscure sections of the NDAA of 2012, which was signed into law by Obama in December. Those sections appear to allow unlimited detentions by U.S. military forces and federal law enforcement agencies of even U.S. citizens without charges or a court hearing.

It is easier to call them fascists than to blame the people for not using their rights, under our Constitutional Republic, to bear arms. Not doing so opens one up to assault. Another win for the democracy. Cheer

For freedom!

The other 49 states will speak in other ways.
Virginians are gentlemanly.

When law is made meaningless for some, law becomes meaningless for all.

Virginia, FTW!

What the f*ck happened to South Carolina, first state to seceed from the Union in 1860? And Texas?

I would have thought they'd have done something like this before Virginia.

Yup.. The Old Dominion leads the way again brother!

I imagine that few here remember, and even fewer where privy to, the 1999 Christmas eve party in which the the (then) VA gov stated to President Clinton in NO uncertain terms that if martial law was declared over the y2k thing that the VA guard would "protect its states citizens from ALL threats both foreign and DOMESTIC", leading to a stand down of plans to enact just such an order.... This state is nowhere near perfect, but God I do love her just the same!

I hear you my friend!

Virginia FTW

FYI, some time back (could have been up to twenty years) the Feds thought making our receiving federal highway grant money or project funding dependent upon a 55 MPH speed limit would make that speed limit happen.

I drove most everywhere on our Interstate Highways at 75 MPH that year.

We didn't take their money with the associated loss of freedom attached.

In the end each other is all we have.
