However you betcha we are being watched. As for shills and disinfo agents-not so much so. While traffic here is decent there are many much larger boards where the .gov is going to focus their limited resources.

My two cents, YMMV....

Not 'run' by gov. Strongly influenced by it in various forms.

There are people working independantly and in organisations to prevent certain debate. There are ways this can be done so that discussion is too difficult to be effective.

I've only been on the internet for twenty years, and the difference in the quality of freedom of expression between then and now is amazing (though not unexpected). - People who have been using the internet longer than I have would have had even more freedom to say what they liked.

Eitii-ess was, I believed, not too bad with breaking and debating interesting events. From my perspective now, the gov-types have thoroughly infiltrated those running and operating the site, and the place is used to rubbish debate on significant issues. If you get a story on that board before the mods see it, then count yourself lucky. If it's worth investigating it'll be gone the next time you click on it, so do your thinking quickly.

It's not much different on other 'conspiracy' sites I have visited. Some rules - written or unwritten - that boards go by now serve to prevent debate through framing some poster for that canard "anti-semi..." Others by being accused of being rayciss. Banning is for those who are too sharp to be drawn into a trap.

Now I see clearly there really are shills. I don't know if they get paid for being a shill, but I do know for a fact that the Japanese government has created, staffed and outfitted a ministry to prevent disclosure of "misinformation" concerning the Fukushima fiasco. Loads of sites have got shut down here for posting things the government doesn't like people to know. I don't know how many others here have been blacklisted and banned or prevented from expressing themselves online, but I'm sure the number is staggering.

Now our posts sure are being read as we type them. No doubt our online travels to other boards are easy to track and we get people being paid to follow us around and try to wreck our delivery of pertinent facts.

I don't for a moment doubt I am watched. Unfortunately or fortunately I can hold my own a bit better than average in the knowledge and writing department, so I get less debate as such, because bs doesn't work so well with me and doesn't elicit the desired response, so my normal treatment from lemmigs, shills and trolls is personal abuse. And just like in Tel Aviv, if I try to fight back then I'm the one banned ... It makes me smile these days because it's so transparent.

Somehow it is still possible to gather the necessary facts and to reach a pretty fair and accurate conclusion on an issue, but this is achieved these days knowing someone is watching how the information got to me and where I found it - and it'll likely vanish.

I used to feel worried the fence-sitters would pay attention to the shills, and this would mean the general concensus would remain the same. Clearly the trolls, shills and paid gov posters do prevent useful news getting out, but there are a lot of smart people around, and they aren't as naive as I used to feel they were. I expect a lot of thinkers know the score and realize debating is pointless once a shill is smelt on-site.

There are young people now just starting on the internet and to them it might seem as if information is freely shared - like I used to twenty years ago. To me, now, I can't really see how this internet is still working at all because compared to how it used to be it is a highly-censored, costly, dangerous vast shopping mall with monopolies doing their damnedess to monitor and control us. Duegull and cousins virtually own the furniture and fittings online, and just about every board I've seen is plagued with their ads - all chosen by computers to suit your online habits as expressed in your emails and searches.

The internet is becoming irritating in the way TV was. I binned my TV and haven't owned one for over ten years. It seems that unless I am going to find some sort of haven where Big Bro doesn't oversee my online literary contributions then I'll be going without - that day is surely coming.

So I agree with the OP. Message boards like this are deliberately or inadvertantly set up to corral the dissidents and duff them up online if possible or arrange for them to be ostracised or banned by whatever means.

However it is still not impossible to find more of the truth online and on conspiracy boards and maybe even get a little useful discussion going before it is stopped. Some other boards - such as some farming forum - might have a general chat area and you'd be surprised at the data they have sometimes on conspiracies ... conspiracy boards are targeted because of the nature of their board, whereas some other board - say a wood-carving type of board, might avoid scrutiny. IYSWIM ... (I'm tired and not writing well).

If one participates in a conspiracy board with the knowledge that it is manipulated and full of shills, trolls and spies, then it would be better than waltzing in naively wondering why you're getting the crap kicked out of you by very persistent and nasty strangers - one who knew would just stop posting there because once a debate's been spotted by the aforementioned then it's days of usefullness are ending.

And it's very sad.

I think that one would be very naive to think that something with the awesome power of the internet would not be recognized, and employed, by TPTB. Subtle conditioning is always more effective.

RE: Struggling with internet & feel like all 'conspiracy sites' are ran by govt' shills
Govern their shill their pills
No I chill I fear not them
They say they win?
Ha I laugh
I will not spit on them
I just will roll with the punches wait they got no power
They think they do?
Ha ha ha ha ha
Shill Shill Sally Sold Seashells by the seashore then a shill got a pill to drug Sally to steal her seashells to shill shill the ocean sounds of robot copy paste government broken imaginations of no creativity
For when your soul is filled with stolen seashells
You never FLOW in the Right Direction
You just clog up the Toilet and wallow in their own shit

Yeah their are shills
But you can spot them easy like looking for a Giant Needle In a small haystack
They have no Personalities
They have no Imaginations
They are void of everything
Except the SHILL SCRIPT THE FAKE SHELL
I got a Shell of a Slow Turtle
To listen to learn to see right through them

But hey I love em all
Without the Shill
We wouldn't understand how the system works
So in essence they are technically teaching
So All you shills Happy Cinco De Mayo
I wish I had some weed right now
Can I borrow some Shills?
Oh waitchuckle

RE: Struggling with internet & feel like all 'conspiracy sites' are ran by govt' shills
I don't believe that all sites are run by govt. I think there is a subtle influence, though. I have to giggle because sometimes on LOP there are these energy changes...and individuals who intentionally steer such energies. I don't know if that is govt intervention or not, but I do find it a bit creepy how energy is easily manipulated on these boards.

Apologies for not making sense, I didn't get to sleep until 4am last night.
