Hmmm...the skepticism on whether this is a true "companion" and how do we know if it is one if it is a "life savor"? Could it not be a "skittle"? Fun to read the fallout down the conclusion hole, my vote is natural phenomenon including but not limited to digital artifacts that are readily explained in educated analysis of SOHO imaging. We really want to believe we are so unique and interesting that super races would be interested in our star, maybe it's just some tourists....

You know? Here's the thing. If we can't believe the images we see on soho with this odd anomaly, how can we trust anything we see. Something must be gong on that we do not understand. If it is an "artifact" or lens dust, whatever, how on earth can we even trust a flare is a flare, a coronal hole is what they say. Nothing they say will ever make sense to me now.
