Nah corn syrup......
First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

If society fell apart, we - the people would build a new one. Most people are good at their core, and when we see things that are wrong we work to fix them together. Make friends with your neighbors, get involved with your community - because we will rebuild our lives, our communities, from horrible circumstances we always will.

They are barking up one branch of the tree but have missed the trunk. Until we get the trunk fixed, you will still have obesity. What I'm saying is that sugar has been around for centuries and nobody suffered overly much (unless they really ate too much of it). HFCS is not particularly healthy as fructose should only be consumed with fiber - such as in the form of fruit. Say no to fruit juice. Say no to soda. But, many people are not eating sugars and are cutting back on fats but are still obese.
Nope, this isn't where the problem lies. The problem lies with wheat. We hybridized wheat, developing a full-headed dwarf type and went that route full production a few decades back. This wheat has so much more of the bad stuff than the heritage varieties. Two slices of whole wheat bread raises your blood sugar higher than 6 teaspoons of sugar - and this is supposed to be healthy? Nobody eats 6 teaspoons of sugar, but it's not that difficult to eat 2 slices of bread. As I looked into it, our obesity curve mirrors the production and use of dwarf hybrid wheat. Google- is wheat bad for you? - and read some of the articles. Here is an example of one: http://wellnessmama.com/3486/do-you-have...-dr-davis/
Now, I happened upon this fact by accident just about two weeks back. Call it the Marian-Protocal is you will. I read an article one day in Woman's World about how good resveratrol was for you. So, ever willing to be the gunea pig, I ran out to GNC and purchased a bottle of ResVitale 250 mg trans-resveratrol. This compound supposedly helps to keep blood sugar levels in check and I was planning on starting a new summer diet and hoped it would help with cravings. The first two days of taking resveratrol I was bouncing around like a little Energizer Bunny. I was eating two meals of mostly raw fruits, vegetables, and nuts, or maybe oatmeal or eggs. For supper I was eating anything I wanted and as much as I wanted. The resveratrol really did help with my cravings and I had to make myself eat because I wasn't hungry (that's never happened before).
After three days, I noticed something peculiar. My hair wasn't greasy. My hair has been greasy my entire life and I'm middle-aged. What caused this? All of the sudden it dawned on me that I hadn't eaten a wheat product for three days. So, what would happen if I continued with the resveratrol and no wheat, eating lots of fresh foods, supplementing with a vitamin/mineral tab (resveratrol can chelate metals so make sure you don't run yourself low). Anyway, I started losing a pound a day and have been eating pretty much everything I want (except wheat products and empty calories such as beer and soda). I am eating high fat meats, dark chocolate bars, wild rice with butter, etc. - I am not eating low fat - just no wheat.
After the first 10 lbs I fessed up to my husband what I was doing and asked him to try it too for a couple of weeks. He's a thinner build but has acquired a little love handle around his waist and said he had really been having difficulty managing his appetite. So he tried it. When he stepped on the scale this morning he had lost five pounds in two days! We are doing nothing different in our lifestyles except taking resveratrol and staying away from wheat. I'll be curious to see how this affects us after a couple of months, but already I feel soooo much healthier.
I'm telling you, when people start to figure out that it's the dwarf wheat which is causing us all to be obese, there will be hell to pay. Try it yourself if you don't believe me - trans-resveratrol and no wheat. It's like I just chanced upon the key to curing obesity!

RE: Liquid gold. The men who made us fat.... BBC documentary.....
It is estimated that 30% to 40% of people of European descent are gluten-intolerant to some degree. Now, what percent of people are obese? Why does it tend to run in families? It's all tied to our genetic sensitivity to wheat. It's not that obese people don't have willpower or eat the wrong things necessarily. It's all hormones and issues caused by wheat and the increased appetite and cravings associated with it. Wheat gluten is snuck into so many products these days from ice cream to salad dressing. This is why all the diets fail - Jenny, Weight Watchers. You can restrict your calories, fats, and carbs enough to lose some weight, but those cravings will eventually make you crave and then you will gain it all back.

....MADE YOU FAT.....WITH MALICE AT THAT.... [/u]
Oh, I bet the BBC wont be telling you this truth.
You see I want to thank (yeah sure right) Carole Schilling, MSN, State of Connecticut Department of Health Services, under Commissioner Douglas Lloyd.
For what you say? Well for ruining my life.
And bragging about it at that. "I would rather die of cancer than be fat"
Well you know what Carole? Me too.
That's why yall go this year. 7/21...7/22...7/23...you wont see 24.
But if yall didn't you could have had the keys to unlocking obesity right here.
Don't forget to investigate Charles River Pot Belly Pig Pyrogen.

RE: Liquid gold. The men who made us fat.... BBC documentary.....
Good show, thanks for posting. Nothing I haven't heard before, but it was presented nicely.
Whoever said sugar/fructose is barking up the wrong tree is crazy. People ate sugar before but didn't get fat? Yeah... if you want to ignore the part about how dramatically our intake has increased. Unless our ancestors had snickers bars and soft drinks everywhere, then no, people did not eat this amount of sugar while staying thin, ever.
But I will agree that I think wheat is a problem too and I stay away from most wheat products as well.
Just try bringing home very few things in a box, can, or package from the store, and I bet you'll start feeling a lot better.
