you have to see it from this perspective: some day in the history of mankind we developed consciousness (thinking about thinking, meta-awareness or however one wants to call it). i try to imagine how the first conscious beings saw the world and i'm pretty sure they couldn't distinguish between reality and their own thoughts. just look at the evidence: magic spells, etc. seemed to work out pretty well in the past. ;) humans also had a lot of contact to gods earlier... but we grew up (some of us) and now we see those things more and more with a little smirk because we are now able to see the difference between our own thoughts and reality. we are able to draw a line between fantasy and reality. at least it seems so considering our past.

because it was so vivid, it woke me up way before I usually wake up and I couldn't fall back asleep. If I hadn't been awoken during that part of the dream I would never have remembered it because i only sometimes remember the last few minutes of a dream.

do you have any alternative conjecture of what the future could hold?

related to december: it will be a usual day - as ever. probably there will be some doomsday parties at that particular day (it's a friday so...).
there are certain political tensions worldwide but i doubt there will be any war this year. i also doubt that the euro will collapse this year.
in general: difficult to tell right now. but don't think something magical is going to happen in the future. maybe some day aliens will land but till today we have no evidence of their existence, no photographs of alien visitors abducting a human although we have videos of sea gulls eating small birds... think about it.

i hear ya :(, the view of the future you describe is more of the same: a boring, suffering unchanging world. If nothing happens by December 21st, I, too, will revert back to my original view of the world: unending bleakness.
