Zimbabwe city orders synchronised toilet flush

Zimbabwe’s second largest city of Bulawayo has told residents to synchronise their toilet flushing to minimise sewer pipe bursts after the local authority introduced 72-hour water cuts a week.

The city’s one million residents would flush their toilets at 7:30pm on the day the water is restored to their homes.

Last month, Bulawayo started rationing water after two of its five supply dams dried up because of drought.

“Every household is requested to flush their toilets systematically at 7.30pm, the very day after the 72 hours of water shedding,” council spokesperson Nesisa Mpofu said.

“This is done to prevent any sewer blockages as we anticipate longer periods without water in the reticulation system.”

She said the ‘Big Flush’ was in addition to the normal flushing that would occur during the day.

Council has warned the water shortages could get worse as two more dams may dry up before the rainy season begins in November.

I felt the same thing. Synchronized Flushing may rupture pipes in a sense. Maybe they have monsters gaga pooo demons? That need a good flushing. A flushing to prosperity.

I know really ---- I cannot imagine a system wide flush. hehe - There will be some areas that are plugged and so there could be some poo gushers some where!!

Used to be in a basement apartment - and suddenly after a heavy rain ... heard a weird sound - walked into the bathroom and the freaking toilet was bubbling - and sounds coming out of the tub and sink and then IT ERUPTED - black shit spouting up from all openings. Ran out and closed the door!!! I had to clean that sewer shit off my ceiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (rugs were tossed and towels baked in bleach and hot water - cabinet stuff like toothbrush - TOSSED OUT). Happened to us a few times (got wise the next time - saw the rain, heard the sound - ran and took everything out and closed door. Blockage in the city sewer.

LOL on them thinking that a push of water is the fixie!

Miami dose it electronically during storms. Its not at the same time, It prevents back-up do to storm water. Orange Ave. Orlando needs this. I've seen some nasty back up in their clubs with small florida deluges.
