Lol at pic.
I never was a cat bloke, but needed one because we got mice last year. I wanted a short haired rat catcher but, now we have 'Lady' a long haired 3y/o.
I still prefer my Golden retrievers, but I shall give the cat time to earn my trust. She never leaves my side, so the signs are good.
