Interesting tangent, Richard. One of a conspiracy bent might suggest that is by design. Someone who can, in their own mind, at least, handle all their self-defense needs with a handgun possibly very often never develops other strategies.
And then if "the powers that be" remove the handgun, either directly or by removing some crucial component, ammo, say, they effectively disarm and render defenseless millions of people...

Guns are dangerous in the wrong hands. Would you send loaded guns to school with all your first grade children? Of course not - they would have them out in class, playing with them, and shooting each other. Men and women are supposed to be adults, but many suffer from the same issues of impulsivity and poor anger management that you have with youngsters.
