In the West, people are quick to defend and promote the group Pussy Riot and their kind primarily because most Western women lose their virginity before marriage and often have multiple lovers before they are married. So they do not respect the Church, or morality, or sacredness, or anything that is "traditional."

On the other hand, in the East, the norm is for women to remain virgins until they are married, and promiscuity is condemned (despite what the media tries to show us). So that is why society is quick (and right) to condemn this hateful and biased provocation against an institution that has suffered so greatly under communism, because this group was striking a dagger at the spiritual beliefs of millions who are holding onto or re-discovering the cherished beliefs of hundreds of generations of ancestors before them.
