The Pacific Ocean is Dying

This is a great read. It's very long and multi-linked.
Here's a super depressing excerpt:
Quote:the Pacific Ocean is extremely vulnerable to the radioactive waste being dumped into her waters at Fukushima. Should another catastrophic earthquake occur, it could create a new nad more complicated nuclear disaster scenario that is irreparable. Even without any seismic activity affecting the nuclear sites, the current state of affairs has taken for granted that the Pacific Ocean will become a nuclear dumping ground for decades to come. It has not been lost on us that such an inevitability appears to be the only practical expedient available.

We are truly saddened by the great loss of marine life and harm to myriad aquatic and shoreline ecosystems. As the nuclear radiation is exported around the Asian Ring of Fire, genetic mutation will begin to affect every form of life — from phytoplankton to whales, from seabirds to mangroves, from dolphins to krill. Everything that lives near the Pacific will be at risk to some degree. Anyone who lives, works or plays in or around the Pacific will be compelled to evaluate their relationship to this great ocean.

What have we done to Mother Earth by siting nuclear power plants in the most seismically active region of the world?!

What in God’s Creation can possibly be done to fix it?

Never in the history of humankind has the planet been confronted with such a grave set of circumstances. Truly, Fukushima represents all that can go wrong when scientific and technological advancement has gone awry. Unfortunately, given the many trajectories that numerous fields of technological innovation are currently on, Fukushima and the BP Gulf oil spill of 2012 may only be the beginning of an accelerating period of technospheric breakdown which will plague the Earth.

What would Skippy do?

Actually all of our oceans and seas are dying. The damage is done.

You could say we were done way back in the 50's when this technology was put forth.

It upsets me to see it up close when fishing. We treat the ocean like a landfill that can never fill up. Its getting pretty nasty out there.....

I fish much less now and rarely eat fish....

So sad...take your choice.....gmo, hormoned dairy, hormoned meat, irradiated organic produce, oiled or irradiated fish. What's a brotha got to do to eat healthy? It is impossible.

We are killing ourselves.

Eat like that brotha in your AV.

I have been saddened on my many visits to universities to see young people in their teens who do not have a thought in their head that someone else has not put there. They stand before you after only 17 or 18 years on the planet and are already mindlessly parroting the system’s propaganda.

I would like to see some solid reporting (fat chance) on the readings of radiation in the water and the condition of the sea life around Japan and beyond.

The people who run this world have made all the correct and prudent economic decisions. They see all this talk of an extinction level event as the misinformed nattering of filthy hippies and the uneducated under classes.

The people running this world are businessmen and bankers. The death of an ocean isn't good for business therefore it is not happening. They will gladly kill us all to preserve the wealth they see as their birthright.
