Antarctica (i/æntˈɑrtɨkə/ or /ænˈtɑrktɨkə/)[Note 1] is Earth's southernmost continent, containing the geographic South Pole. It is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. At 14.0 million km2 (5.4 million sq mi), it is the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. For comparison, Antarctica is nearly twice the size of Australia. About 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice that averages at least 1 mile (1.6 km) in thickness.
Antarctica, on average, is the coldest, driest, and windiest continent, and has the highest average elevation of all the continents.[4] Antarctica is considered a desert, with annual precipitation of only 200 mm (8 inches) along the coast and far less inland.[5] The temperature in Antarctica has reached −89 °C (−129 °F). There are no permanent human residents, but anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000 people reside throughout the year at the research stations scattered across the continent. Only cold-adapted organisms survive there, including many types of algae, animals (for example mites, nematodes, penguins, seals and tardigrades), bacteria, fungi, plants, and protista. Vegetation where it occurs is tundra.
Although myths and speculation about a Terra Australis ("Southern Land") date back to antiquity, the first confirmed sighting of the continent is commonly accepted to have occurred in 1820 by the Russian expedition of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev on Vostok and Mirny. The continent, however, remained largely neglected for the rest of the 19th century because of its hostile environment, lack of resources, and isolation. The Antarctic Treaty was signed in 1959 by 12 countries; to date, 49 countries have signed the treaty. The treaty prohibits military activities and mineral mining, prohibits nuclear explosions and nuclear waste disposal, supports scientific research, and protects the continent's ecozone. Ongoing experiments are conducted by more than 4,000 scientists from many nations.

My Question: What are the secrets to this strange land? What is under the ice? A lost city? Atlantis? Who knows

RE: The Secrets of Antarctica
Antarctica was home to a rainforest some 50 million years ago

Scientists who studied sediment cores drilled from the ocean floor off the Antarctic coast, have found on subsequent analysis fossil pollens that came from a tropical forest. Most likely, the continent was covered by rainforest some 52 million years ago. The researchers involved warn however that by the end of the century, ice from the Antarctic might retreat at the current rate of global warming, leaving the continent once again ice-free.

Pre-glacial topographical reconstruction for Antarctica during Eocene–Oligocene times.
Kevin Welsh, an Australian scientist who traveled on the 2010 expedition, said that the international team of researchers he was a part of had discovered temperature-sensitive molecules in the cores showing that Antarctica was as warm as 68°F (20 Celsius) some 52 million years ago.

I am also a fan of Grahams work and lean towards the displacement theory. Very interesting possibilities. This may have once been the home of Atlantis.

Well it can crustally displace all it wants as long as Virginia remains temperate or becomes sub-tropical!

I was just reading this:

Magnetic pole migration: If you look at the data, we find something even more intriguing than just the high temperatures. From looking at the two maps, we can see the high temperatures are migrating farther north. This indicates major changes are occurring to the planet’s jet stream. Basically, the jet stream is moving farther north into Canada, and this is shifting U.S. weather patterns northward in the process. I documented this change was well underway in my book, The 7th Protocol, along with the future implications for climate that will result from this erratic migration of the planet’s jet stream. This shifting atmospheric dynamism will continue to have a profound impact on the world’s climate. It will also further accentuate seasonal temperature extremes, as the jet stream in closely linked with the planet’s electrical and geo-magnetic properties, which are constantly perturbed by solar activity. –The Extinction Protocol

I know that talks about the magnetic poles, but what if it's physical at the same time? Hapgood suggested some of the slippage could be very slow....

"50 million" is way too far off. It was closer to the equator in much more recent history.

prob right they are just guessing, we have no idea who we are, how we got here or what our history is

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/14/world/...ismic.html

That article claims the Japan earthquake moved the Earth's physical poles a little but it is the other way around. The poles shifting causes giant earthquakes. It's media spin. The other large earthquakes in recent history such as the one in Chile have had similar News articles come out. Don't be fooled. The physical poles are slowly shifting to follow the magnetic ones.

cow RE: The Secrets of Antarctica
there is this thread going on

Crispan Varro  Wrote: (08-07-2012 02:38 PM)
We've all heard tales of Nazis exploring the southern extremities of the globe and even setting up bases in Neuschwabenland. Some have also heard of Operation Highjump and Admiral Byrd's altercation with entranched German forces that overpowered them with amazing flying craft. A video has recently surfaced which shows a 1944 map from the Third Reich detailing not only the direct passageway used by German U-boats to access this subterranean domain, but also a complete map of both hemispheres of the inner realm of Agharta!

link to image: http://imgupld.lunaticoutpost.com/graphi...210A61.jpg

Rodney Cluff on his website has a copy of a letter (with translation) supposedly sent from a Karl Unger that was aboard the U-boat 209 (commanded by Heinrich Brodda) saying that they had reached the inner earth and would not be coming back!

If that seems too unbelievable, compare with those maps, this map done by the famed Tyrolean cartographer and artist Heinrich C. Berann for the National Geographic Society beginning in 1966. It clearly shows the continent of Antarctica without its cover of ice. The intriguing detail here is that there are underwater passageways that run nearly the entire length of the continent and seem to converge at the exact location identified as the opening into the hollow earth!
