The doctors prescribing the drugs don't know they don't do what they're meant to. Nor do their patients. The manufacturers know full well, but they're not telling.

Drugs are tested by their manufacturers, in poorly designed trials, on hopelessly small numbers of weird, unrepresentative patients, and analysed using techniques that exaggerate the benefits

I agree Jhikpghf Patient nor doctor knows about them. Only the drug companies who sponsor the medical facilities and doctor's scholarships and uni funding.

When a leaf falls, who's fault is it?
The tree that let it go,
The wind for blowing it away,
Or the leaf that got tired of holding on?

RE: The drugs don't work: a modern medical scandal
The doctor who wrote the article is smart enough to realize that many drugs are bogus. But what he fails to realize is that the medical profession itself is to blame. They don't treat root causes of illness, just symptoms. That means while they are masking symptoms with drugs that have side effects the root cause of the illness remains unaddressed and will likely become worse.

Most drugs work by blocking enzymes. Since everything works together in the body, when you block an enzyme you are going to disrupt some metabolic processes.

The root causes of most chronic diseases, other than genetic causes, are dysbiosis, infection, food intolerance and heavy metal poisoning. Most of the people on antidepressants could solve their problem by a change in diet. Lack of neurotransmitters is a sign of a nutritional deficiency, not a drug deficiency.
