engendering debate and starting an argument. I personally prefer an exchange of ideas and concepts rather than participating or seeing threads that are meant to incite rather than insight. Incitement reduces the quality of thought and deliberation on this board.

It makes sense to discover the root of a problem rather than raging about the outcome. In order to accomplish that, judgment of ideas has no place in an earnest discussion. A reasoned examination of apposing ideas generates an improved mutual understanding.

By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Hopefully maturity on both parties will be able to work that out. Otherwise, Bertrand Russell has a great thought on situations like that.

I agree. However the nature of forums is to do otherwise.
I've come back after two years to see if it has changed.

Some of us continue to work on that change. I've never been a fan of Mob rule. Heartflowers

In accordance with my strong belief in individual liberties, I wholeheartedly agree with you. We all have a specific role.

Well... Russell had several thoughts, so can you give an example of the thought you mean, or did you mean a thought process... like the ethics in analytic philosophy? Could you be referring to some type of behavior from language itself? I'm not sure maturity is always the issue with being insightful, because we can teach each other regardless of age and gender.

I honestly don't know or understand what you mean.

Are my questions an example of being argumentative or could I be trying to define individual perspectives?

I encourage feedback. Heartflowers

I always felt the quote was crude in nature but the sentiment is apropos.

Quote:A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

A language vs intent discussion would be a fascinating topic. Heartflowers

What does the Bible say "Be In the World, not of It".
While I think the translation of the Bible is often skewed, the message is spot on.
