The moon is a constant reminder that any planet like earth can become a barren dead wasteland of a planet. Just look at Mars.

granted, they are usually small, and even if they are egg-sized and can wop yer head pretty bad, most of them fall into the ocean

Then why do Moon rocks show none of the normal composition you would
find in Earth rocks?

To me this is one of those dooms that is useless to worry about. What good could come from carrying a load of asteroid anxiety around? Besides, I've already got my umbrella.

Earth and the sun are kind of in the same neighborhood....

....and a 500 meter comet and a 500 meter asteroid are both going to be a very bad day for us if they are heading in our direction....

My point was that the skies are getting busier and I believe we are passing through a region of space concentrated with more of these fellows...
