Once present time is established and agreed upon it is in the past.

Whatever one expects in the future it will never be quite as expected (imagined, envisioned). Imagination, visions are of a different quality and type than the experience fed to us by our senses.
Psychedelic chemicals and other states of consciousness like meditation can alter experience of place, time, order of events, past and future.

The experience of now as it is occurring has a separate quality than this very experience as recalled from the past, yet we are constantly acting and reacting to our past in terms of what we are experiencing as present.

Where are we exactly if we are reflecting upon our experience of now as we are experiencing it?

In descriptions of time being imaginary, each person's experience and insights may be impossible to completely describe and relate to one another with the limited tool of language as compared to their personal experience of reality and the meanings they ascribe to this experience.

Imo, time is a construct (see Hopi explanation of their experience of time for an example of an alternative experience of time) that we use to assign meaning to make sense of experience. The current popular construct has some serious flaws that push the illusory factor while insisting on it's empiracle accuracy, and favors those who can materially afford to ignore the popular construct.
