Duck and cover! We had to keep a brown paper bag in our school desks and we practiced putting it over our heads while hiding under the desk.

and every time I heard the noon warning siren I thought this is it. we were conditioned for death at a very early age. what a head f*ck.

I say no! Sure, there was the threat of a nuclear holocaust, but that threat still exists today.

I don't ever recall any controversy concerning a president like we're seeing today. Sure, people had their favorites and were a bit disappointed if their favorite didn't win the election, but I don't ever recall anyone ever questioning the legality of the person in office or whether the president was acting to strengthen the country or not. People may have disagreed with how others approached the nation's problems, but they never questioned the motives of the people in power.

At least that's the impression I got from watching and listening to my parents, grandparents, teachers, and so on.

What about tricky dick and watergate? The assassination of kennedy, the hostages in iran,, viet nam, the forced sterilization of poor Puerto Rican women, the experimentation on military men exposed to nuclear detonations, the iran- contra debacle etc, etc?

Tricky dick and watergate - a good politician gone bad.
Assassination of Kennedy - terrible thing - Kennedy was well liked - they got the bad guy.
Hostage in iran - glad when the issue was resolved.
Viet Nam - just a war - keep in mind my father and grandparents were veterans too (everyone should be proud for the opportunity to serve their country).
Forced sterilization - never heard of it.
Experimentation on military men - was on my own when this came to light (don't know what they would've said since some of my parents and grandparents had already passed on)

Different generation and different outlook on life. I think if they were aware of the recent attacks on our constitution and freedoms, they would be turning over in their graves.

A much older generation had a war over constitutional issues.
If there was any outrage in 1913,it has been forgotten. Thats the year the irs was started and the federal reserve was given a charter. It's been downhill from there, the constitution has been nipped away at and all we have left is an old document that has no meaning to anyone in "authority". The older generations are as much to blame as the recent ones.

RE: To All The Elderly!
There has always been doomsayers. A whole bunch of hippies came up to the rerservation in september something, 1976, because that was the end of the world. The time came, and they all left.
The strength and weakness of christianity is, that christ has been coming back, every generation, since he left,
And there's always the super good reasons for it, just like this time.

Stereotypes you cure, mend the fiber of the world
