They were showing on the news tonight all the flooding and how the fire ants were floating in the flood water in a little ball.

Waders and swimmers who meet up with a ball of thousands of fire ants may find the experience worse than a jelly fish encounter, for the ants may spread over a good deal of the person's body before stinging.

Those are horrible. I have encountered one of those little
rafts of pain before. I had to rescue my horse from a flooded
pasture when I was a kid. They covered me in seconds. To this
day one of my obsessions is killing those little bastards.

no thats not normal

You must not live in Florida, every year for the last 10,000 years we have tropical storms that regularly bring in 1 to 3 feet of rain.

This is so "Regular" that this is already the 2nd storm of the season, we just had "Beryl" last month and it dropped a foot and a half on Florida as well.

EXTREMELY NORMAL

No its not normal we average 55inches of rain per year and we have had half of that in 4days and we are already on the 4th named storm of the year which is ten days early than any other year

You forget that we had NO RAIN for the first four months of the year. Winter and early spring is our dry months. In order to get the 70-50 inches of rainfall per year, unfortunately we get dumped on by tropical storms in the summer. That is NORMAL!

Two weeks ago my pond was bone dry

Half of my normal rainfall would be 35-25"

Where are you getting your numbers from? Jacksonville reported 13.78, Gainesville 12.02 http://www.wokv.com/news/news/ts-debby-d...rou/nPdTm/

So far I have not found accurate numbers for Hillsborough or my county Polk.

The news reports of 17-25" is all media hype. Not to be confused with reality.

Sorry about your bad luck in living on Bayshore. For those who don't know Bayshore is the end run of all the rain run off of south Tampa as it runs into the bay. Every time it rains Bayshore is impassable until all the water drains into the bay.

More rainfall numbers for the event

http://www.tampabay.com/news/weather/tak...by/1237113

From Clearwater to Crystal River, Belleair Bluffs to Brandon, the primary hardship was power outages and flooding. By Monday afternoon, 96-hour rainfall totals topped 15 inches in Brooksville, 14 in Tarpon Springs, 13 in Largo. Tampa and St. Petersburg saw more than 10 inches as lowlands like Bayshore Boulevard and Shore Acres flooded.

RE: Tropical DEPRESSION Debby Dwindling...
Debby is now reduced to a Tropical Depression, slowly moving East, Northeast, over Florida, and should drift off into the North Atlantic by Monday.

Unless it pulls an Otto, and gets re-directed south.

Glad Floridian LOPsters have remained safe.
