The heliosphere is a giant "bubble" of magnetism inflated by solar winds which encompasses the solar system, and protects the planets from cosmic radiation (about 1/10th of it). So let's review. We're heading through a potentially problematic Fluff Cloud, but we have been protected by the Sun's heliosphere. Now the heliosphere is weakening and shrinking at the same time, and there isn't this big area of protection like a wave out in front.

This means we could be exposed to gamma ray bursts, etc. How that will affect us is the $64,000 question. Sometime last week, it was reported that the Sun has an effect on people's behavior and the political turmoil we're experiencing may be due to this dynamic.

NASA doesn't really say much, and the information is presented in such a manner you have to really educate yourself on the terminology to even have a rudimentary understanding.

He was correct in a lot, but yeah, missed it about the grid collapse and the time-frame.

My excuse for him was that we entered a solar minimum that was wholly unexpected, so it would have pushed his window off about a year and half.
