I'll copy my posts from earlier today to this one.

That's right. Again the guest poster gets snubbed for breaking a story before the major news outlets even picked it up and the avatar gets the pin.

f*ck LOP - the forum where guests are treated like crap.

Man, I guess your thread wasn't seen. I've appreciated your posts. Cheers

Who cares who was first, or are there gold medals being given out for it?

The important thing is to get the info out there so people are aware.

Oh Ebola in a big city, that will cause some bedlam

One essential deterrent to the Ebola virus in a large European City:

One should own a large property, preferably a castle where one's family is protected by armed guards. One should also take extra care not to have contact with the vibrant local culture as this would put one at serious risk. One should ensure that one has a special flight arranged to Monaco in case one's staff might show signs of the disease like sneezing when it cleans one's diamonds from...one forgets.

RE: Ugandan president bans all physical contact after 2 Ebola cases reported in capital
If I've got this right. It jumped from 14 suspected cases to 36 in a day? If these numbers keep doubling on a daily rate it truly is scary.

Wiki says:

All epidemics of Ebola have occurred in sub-optimal hospital conditions, where practices of basic hygiene and sanitation are often either luxuries or unknown to caretakers and where disposable needles and autoclaves are unavailable or too expensive. In modern hospitals with disposable needles and knowledge of basic hygiene and barrier nursing techniques, Ebola has never spread on a large scale. In isolated settings such as a quarantined hospital or a remote village, most victims are infected shortly after the first case of infection is present. The quick onset of symptoms from the time the disease becomes contagious in an individual makes it easy to identify sick individuals and limits an individual's ability to spread the disease by traveling. Because bodies of the deceased are still infectious, some doctors had to take measures to properly dispose of dead bodies in a safe manner despite local traditional burial rituals.[46]

Now it's got to a modern hospital let us hope that the same trend applies. It hasn't ever left the African continent before (apart from some lab accidents in Switzerland, UK and Russia).

Meh until it hits the US no big deal. They have had outbreaks of Ebola in Africa several times.

In 1989, an Ebola virus subtype Reston, was isolated in quarantined laboratory cynomolgus monkeys (Macacca fascicularis) in Reston, Virginia, USA. From 1989 to 1996, several outbreaks caused by the Ebola Reston subtype occurred in monkeys imported from the Philippines to the USA (Reston in Virginia, Alice in Texas and Pennsylvania) and to Italy. Investigations traced the source of all Ebola Reston outbreaks to one export facility near Manila in the Philippines, but the mode of contamination of this facility was not determined. Several monkeys died, and at least four people were infected, although none of them suffered clinical illness.

Not just people can transfer the virus.

Thats true but there has never been a confirmed case of ebola transmitted in the US.

We'll know pretty quickly if this is doom. It's in the capital now, not in some outback village where it takes 3-4 days to get anywhere.

IF (big if) this mutation has gone airborne we'll see a rapid spike in casualties. If not, then they have a chance to contain it.

Especially bad is if the info about "normal flu symptoms" turns out to be true.

Folks, if you see the numbers spike to 20, 40, 100 then it's time to bring in the tomato plants.

What's alerted me is the location of the infection...the capital. A big city hosting a virulent contagious disease is a Bad Thing.

when a case is reported in the US then it's time to go on high alert.

176 Contacts Being Monitored

“The Ministry of Health Surveillance team in Kibaale district is actively and closely following up to 176 people suspected to have got into contact with the dead and sick. These contacts have not shown any signs of the disease but continue to be monitored,” he further noted.

Kenya: Panic as Siaya man exhibits Ebola symptoms

Anxiety has gripped Siaya residents after a 27-year-old man was admitted to hospital with symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus.

The man, who was immediately put in a solitary ward in Siaya District Hospital, was admitted Wednesday morning with excessive blood oozing from his gums.

“He is also passing bloody urine,” said Siaya Medical Superintendent Jacktone Omoto who said that was a symptom associated with the haemorrhagic fever.

Omoto said the patient’s blood sample was sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute in Siaya for testing and the results are expected on Friday at the earliest.
