United States Supreme Court Rules That Jails May Strip-Search Misdemeanor Offenders
The United States Supreme Court yesterday announced a new rule further eviscerating our disappearing right to privacy. In a 5-4 majority decision written by Justice Kennedy, joined by justices Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas, the Court held that the Fourth Amendment does not prohibit jails from strip-searching all inmates, including people jailed for minor offenses, if they are to be placed in general population. The ruling applies to visual searches of genital areas by corrections officers without physically touching the inmate.

Such searches are commonly referred to as a “squat and cough” that, in theory, is supposed to dislodge any contraband concealed in the vagina or rectum. In practice, they are used to humiliate inmates and emphasize that they are not in control.

People have been strip searched for failure to leash their dog while walking and numerous other unreasonable "crimes"

f*cking sickening.

This is disturbing, If the suspect is innocent they are completely morally humiliated just by the court system, let alone being cavity searched. I think the govt. wants to make us realize that we have no control and therefor more easily subjugate us to complete transparency. To protect them from us.

The prison system is full of innocents. They should be full of the people who pass these laws.

I thought the "conservative" justices were all about protecting our freedoms...

Guess not. They and the "liberal" ones are two sides of the same coin.

"Jails" do not strip search people -really weird people that get off on that - usually do

Or the otherwise desperately unemployed - of which the so called PTB are trying desperately to make more

Don't watch much TV but I did see one part of a show where they had to decide whether a male or female cop should search a transgender halfway through his/her treatment. I guess technically only another transgender in the same stage of treatment could be appointed. Cool

I suppose now with all the gay, lesbian and transgender population filling TSA and police/military roles the only safe thing would be to let a machine do it. "Don't touch my junk - "does not compute, submit or be terminated"

Oh well - "death before dishonour - I guess"

"According to opinions in the lower courts, people may be strip-searched after arrests for violating a leash law, driving without a license and failing to pay child support. Citing examples from briefs submitted to the Supreme Court, Justice Breyer wrote that people have been subjected to “the humiliation of a visual strip search” after being arrested for driving with a noisy muffler, failing to use a turn signal and riding a bicycle without an audible bell.

A nun was strip-searched, he wrote, after an arrest for trespassing during an antiwar demonstration."

Those are all perfect examples of how screwed up the system is.
Thank Geo.

Stuff just makes me shake my head and curse.
