I keep seeds from my crop year to year, really easy. Leave some beans, tomatoes, sunflowers, sqash, peppers on the plant til freeze up and pick and dry. They can be used the following year.

The link above has info about how Monsanto roundup ready Herbicides are
poisoning the soil permanently, by killing all the microbes that enrich and keep the soil useable. Also states the Mississippi River Basin aquifers and ground
waters are concentrated with the Herbicide runoff, with air borne material
also.
I'm e-mailing Ron Paul to see if he will stop Monsanto if elected for crimes
committed against the U.S. and world.

God bless

Yikes, I've grown Big Bertha peppers, and Early Girl and Big Boy tomatoes, and yeah, I get some of my plants from garden centres. Had no idea these varieties were from Monsatan. Too bad too, Early Girl is a great producer, grows fast, sets lots and lots of fruit and is really tasty. That sucks, since I would rather eat worms than see Monsatan get a single penny of my money..........

Have to have a word with my local garden centre. Thanks for the link.

I've done the same thing and that's why I posted the link because I figured others would benefit from it as I did.

RE: Vegetables Owned by Monsanto.........(A list).
this is what happens when a free society allows tyrants to rule through corporations which used the free society in order to justify their tyranny in which would be the down fall of the free society

we must realize there are some "freedoms" that should never be in the hands of man with evil intentions

yes, freedom is good but evil men taking advantage of a free society and using it as to catapult feudalism through monopolizing and patenting the very building block of what "food" is should not be tolerated by any society of freedom loving people

if they own your food, they own your future as a "free people", you will never know freedom again if you can not grow your own REAL FOOD

don't let them take away that from you

the founding fathers are rolling in their graves

So they don't actually own or have a patent on these vegetables? It sounds to me they just sell them under a "heirloom" brand.

Monsanto seeks intellectual property protection, including patents and often plant breeders’ rights, to cover many of the traits and seed varieties we develop. These protections help to ensure we are paid for our products and for the investments we put into developing them. We sell these proprietary products in the market using business models that reinforce our obligations to reinvest, provide a return to our shareowners and provide for our employees. Monsanto re-invests more than $2.6 million per day in research and development that ultimately benefits farmers and consumers. No business can survive without being paid for its products or services and we maintain rigor in assuring the success of the business models we implement to deliver our products and services to the market.

"Please understand that Monsanto only owns the trademark names for these “heirloom” varieties. This stretegic move holds two advantages for Monsanto:

1.) prevents new companies from naming new varieties with these or very similar names.

2.) it is an effort to stop lucrative sales by these other companies trying to leverage the heirloom name and consumer loyalty for those heirloom varieties."

So, Monsanto owns the trademark to the names, not a patent on the genetics of the seeds themselves.

So, this is a move by Monsanto to undermine seed companies that sell heirloom varities with those trademarked names, even though the seeds are, and always have been, heirloom?

Those bastards, they're trying to trick us into not supporting many of the common varieties of heirlooms.

At least, that's how I read the article. Anyone else?

I think we need clarification on this issue, and the OP should be updated accordingly. Otherwise, we're playing right into their hand by falling for their bullshit.
