teach Vitamins for you DOG
Does anyone else give their dogs vitamins ? If so ,what kind and where do you buy them?

One of my friends just told me he gives his dog vitamins and also one to prevent
cancer?

I would like to hear more opinions on this.

Thanks!

RE: Vitamins for you DOG
I do/did, I made his own food and supplemented it with vitamins. I bought them over the internet.

He's off them now, because he has some type of allergy and he's on prescription dog food until we can find out what it is.

No need unless you feed it commercial dog food. Try a raw diet!

I had a Boxer that I gave regular doses of Deprenyl too, probably extended his lifespan by 7 years according to the vet. He made it to 14.

RE: Vitamins for you DOG
well now I am confused.
I have never heard of doing this before either.
and
by raw food what do you mean ? as in raw meat?
raw what? I could not stand to give my dog raw meat - as it is I can barely stand to look at it.
I give my dog a mix of his dog food and once in a while
some veggies and stuff off our plates - not a lot .
he gets eggs sometimes, and leftover turkey and peas , stuff like that
and he gets to licks our plates - lol
I know the things that are poison to them .
We had a dog live to be 19 on table scraps and
no vitamins, but that was a long time ago. But my parents fed him
everything.
I just dont know that vitamins are necessary. Im not convinced this
is a good thing and I never heard of a pill to prevent cancer.

No, I didnt tell the vet until years later. He didnt have any objection after he researched it. Deprenyl is an anti-aging drug, its well covered on the web. Been used for decades in Europe for veterinary applications. Intl. Anti-Aging Systems in the UK was my source.

BTW, dont want anybody to get the impression I was just experimenting on my dog. At 4 years old he was very sick, and his immune system was shot. The Vet said he'd be lucky to make 7 and cautioned me "dont get too attached to this dog." Well shit, at 4 you think I was attached? LOL I credit the Deprenyl with fixing Elvis' systematic problems, he eventually went overnight to a brain tumor.

The raw food diet is called B.A.R.F., Bones And Raw Foods. chuckle There are a lot of websites out there that explain it.

RE: Vitamins for you DOG
I tried everything with Ross, to no avail. He simply was allergic to everything, and then the pills from the vet made him violently ill.

He went back to CA. Tissue

I believe that should be: Biologically Appropriate Raw Food diet

the dog's digestive system is the same as a wolf and the dog should be eating bio appropriate food

not cooked foods, not veggies

RE: Vitamins for you DOG
these are the vitamins my friend says he gives his pooch

cell advance 880
from the doctor. Omega 3,6,and 9 from SAMS
and Dasquan for joints

wtf? Scream1

Dogs are not wolves anymore, they are domesticated animals .
may be related to wolves - they have evovled over the years to not eat like a wolf or we would all be in trouble! chuckle

I dont think cooked veggies hurts them at
in fact its in most food - store bought isnt it? even in gourmet dog foods.

I know of one person who does the raw food but I did not ask what they gave their dog or pass judgement, its their deal , but not mine!
but JMO
giving dogs raw meat is asking for trouble -
bacteria # 1 but also if they crave blood they will kill for it!

Thats no joke - that is why we never gave our dogs raw meat on the farm.

My next vet apt I will be asking about these questions.
