Why is controlling weather bad? Sure we might have a few accidents, but in the end it could propel us to making other planets habitable by learning how our weather works and how to control it. I know I'm going to get flamed for this but just trying to point out another view that isn't so negative.

Control the weather... Not really.

We are a victim of circumstances where we have been assisting the course of nature to change climate through the side effects of our endeavors, such as building sprawling cities were once woodlands were, such as building dams and creating artificial lakes - these are typically heat sinks which have changed the local weather in many areas.

Our pollution lead to the expansion of the Sahara more rapidly during the latter 20th century, and that was particulate matter (global dimming).

The processes by which we get weather patterns is still beyond our energy range. The Sun dumps 164 Watts per square meter per 24 hour period on every square meter of earth's surface. That is a lot of energy, and that energy manifests in climate and weather patterns.

The best we can do is sprinkle a bit of dust in clouds and hope it rains.

True weather manipulation may be in our grasp by the end of this century. By that time we will be able to generate and manipulate the energies needed to actually have an effect on our weather.

What we are seeing is a combination of things currently going on. Increased solar output, more greenhouses gasses in the atmosphere (which we have contributed to), Precession of the Axis (which is a regular event) minor slips in our orbit around the sun (again minor and constantly happening). The net total and combination of all of these things has lead to climate change which was poorly named 'global warming'.

I think the minimum time frame for people to actually be able to start manipulating real weather is as low as 2050 ad. By that time we will have the ability to generate and manipulate the energies and materials to cause storm formation, storm dissipation, even might be able to steer hurricanes a couple degrees off their path.

Large scale weather manipulation such as the size of continents won't be until 2100-2125 AD.

Been reading abut this for 20 years now.

I first read how the US Navy has a cloud generators on board all their larger vessels, this I saw demonstrated During an America's Cup yacht race in San Diego harbor. A fog bank rolls in [totally unpredicted and you know how obsessive those guys are about the weather] the fog bank rolls away to reveal an Aircraft carrier in the middle of the race course, both yachts had to take evasive action [NZ's KZ7[?] vs Dennis Conner's Stars and Stripes]

Later I read about HAARP [while I was still at High School] in a book entitle suppressed technologies and inventions [ a damn good read]

1991 I saw military propaganda being dressed up as "News" in Iraq [my Uncle went, he was SBS and they were active over there holding laser guides onto targets behind the lines]
Desert Storm was an application of these force multipliers, an artificial sand storm was created to cover the famous rush of tanks across the desert undetected.

Many "Novel" Weapons and Weapons systems were trialled on the battle field over there, that Tesla Tank was impressive, reduced buses and vehicles to dust. The footage was shot by a Westerner reporter who stayed behind when advised not to.

US has a large drought this year, must be deliberate in hindsight. Likewise the UK has a bad year for growing food also. Someone is always trying to flood the three gorges dam and get it to break.

Weather wars have been happening for quite some time according to some.

When I see an unseasonal cold snap come up the coast of NZ [directed cold air off the South polar region] almost every time two weeks later a large storm/hurricane forms around the US region. Two to three weeks every time.
Unseasonal, not forecast.

I'm not a meteorologists but I did work at an Airport for 4 and a half years, I was told many things including how vapor trails are formed and at what height they develop at.

We have at least two HAARP stations here in NZ, one is plugged into NZ biggest source of electricity the Clyde Dam, we were directed to make that dam even though we were not lacking for electricity at the time. It is also the source of NZ's debt.
