Was the Sulfur Smell a Warning Sign of a Future Volcano?
Regarding the sulfur smell in L.A. I researched it and it legitimately came from the Salton Sea. I checked the reports of individuals and their map locations. It came up two nights ago and then the sea breeze came in and pinnned it up against the mountains and blew it through the passes. Sulfur compounds are heavier than air so it massed in the foothill region.
So I am asking myself if maybe it was a sign. A Warning.
I've been concerned for some time about a volcano affecting the Ventura Freeway based on the America song Ventura Highway which seems to be the description of a volcanic event. That song was recorded 40 years ago next month. 40 years is the length of time Israel walked in the desert. 40 is with time for repetnance.
So I find there is a Sulphur Mountain in Ventura County. Its near Ojai.
There are three thermal anomalies in Ventura County. One is North of Ojai in the Dick Smith Wilderness. The anomaly isabout three acres in size. It got up to about 800 degrees F and was burning the soles off peoples shoes and it started a forest fire. I think they said it has cooled down now.
Then there is the thermal hot spot on a mountain overlooking Fillmore. It started a brush fire a couple of months ago and is allegedly an underground fire. There is a hole with smoke coming out. There are also the smoking cliffs of Rincon Beach.
These thermal anomalies are at the edge of an area about 50 miles square.
I see two bizarre orange areas in the google satellite view that I don't know what to make of. One near Ojai and the other about 20 miles NW.

It just seems odd to me.
Its not my purpose to fear monger. There is no indication any volcanic eruption is imminent. No groundswell or venting (other than the anomalies) that I know of.
I did find this kind of unusual statement from the Forest Service about a fissure running through the area.

It absolutely did not smell like sulfur because it smelled like the dead fish from the Salton Sea like it has the 15 months I have lived close to it. Word is that they wanted to build a city down there but it just smells so terrible, the property is worthless. Huge wind gusts are not helping either and it has been uncharacteristically "stormy" but not rainy.

You may live close to the Salton Sea, but many people far away from it have also been noticing a sulfur smell.
MSM is trying to blame the Salton Sea but I call BS when your getting reports all the way up to northern cali. Fish causing the earth to make noises, fish causing the whole state to smell like sulfur. Either fish is just code for plate movement or the MSM thinks we really are that stupid.

We have a couple of sulfer springs close by, more seeps than anything. They're fun to hike to and visit and poke around. I sometimes can smell them during the winter when the air is cold and heavy but I smelled it quite noticebly last week or so. I haven't smelled them since but it is in the back of my mind to keep an eye (and nose out) for anything else unusual.
I've also seen lots of really tiny earthquakes around the north state that are rather unusual, and I've been watching since 1996.
This area has seen volcanic activity a long long time ago, with a couple of big sleeping volcanoes about 50-60 miles away. Lassen last erupted in 1914 but Shasta last erupted in the 1700s.

Earthquake geology
The Salton Sea and surrounding basin sits over the San Andreas Fault, San Jacinto Fault, Imperial Fault Zone, and a "stepover fault" shear zone system. American researchers determined that previous flooding episodes from the Colorado River have been linked to earthquakes along the San Andreas Fault. Sonar and other instruments were used to map the Salton Sea's underwater faults during the study. During the period when the basin was filled by Lake Cahuilla, a much larger inland sea, earthquakes higher than magnitude 7 occurred roughly every 180 years, the last one occurring within decades of the year 1700. Computer models suggest that the normal faults in the area are most vulnerable to deviatoric stress loading by the in-filling of water. Currently, a risk still exists for an earthquake of magnitude 7 or 8. Simulations also showed that in the Los Angeles area, shaking and thus damage would be more severe for a San Andreas earthquake that propagated along the fault from the south, rather than from the north. Such an earthquake also raises the risk for soil liquefaction in the Imperial Valley region.[26] The effective drainage divide that separates the Salton Sea from the Gulf of California is approximately 9 m (30 ft) in elevation and is located near Delta, northeastern Baja California State, Mexico, south-southeast of Mexicali.[27] Past sea level rise may partially be responsible for the salinity of the lake, while potential future changes in sea levels could occur. However, other factors such as hydrothermal vents, diffusion of salt from minerals and sediment, including concentrated brine and evaporites are another contributor to salinity, as is the recent lowering of lake levels raising the salinity, though sedimentary records show that the lake surface elevation reached levels 10–12 metres above sea level in the 1500s.[28]
