I have just been looking at a recipe that has kosher salt as an ingredient

whats that then?

PS I am not happy with LOP for deleting my thread about getting my willy stuck in a bottle

It is salt that comes in small flakes rather than tiny cube crystal shapes. It generally is used for the rabbinical koshering of meat by applying a layer of it on the meat to draw out the surface blood. It is then scraped off and the meat prepared, but kosher salt is also used for other recipes that call for a larger particle size of salt.

Jeez somebody has to step up with a coherent answer for these things. I use it because I like the bigger size, and I use a salt grinder for rock salt.

I also eat kosher, but not the rabbinical kosher. As far as 'koshering' meats God said 'pour the blood on the ground and cover it, do not eat it'. That is all. No ‘thou shalt slather heaps of salt on it and waste good salt’! Since we grow and butcher our own meat I know that one singular command has been carried out sufficiently.
