What the big gov, progressive mentality seems to have us transitioning to is akin from the change that primitive free-swimming cells went through as they began living in symbiotic communities of microbial matts - to the first multi-cellular creatures.

They just gave up their individuality and independence in return for safety security and guaranteed food supply - they were told what to do, when to do it, what to become, and when to die or sacrifice themselves for the collective good.

In the same way employees, citizens are not needed to exercise independent judgement.

No, more like what your "Republican" corporate future looks like. The lifeguard worked for a PRIVATE COMPANY, not the government. The whole Republican notion to turn all public jobs over to contractors. The private company fired the lifeguard for saving somebody in an area that they weren't contracted to work in, citing liability issues.
