http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepperoni

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepperoni_pizza

Can always at least get a start on this sort of important, serious research there, though of course Wikipedia is not 100% dependable, by any means.

I would assume something very much like Pepperoni has been around for a long time, to the Roman Republic, the Etruscans, or before, but having just glanced at that first article, it was not called Pepperoni until 1919.

Pizza is probably the same way-there have always been topped flatbreads, of course, but no tomatoes until they were brought back from the New World! Maybe the South American pre-Spanish conquest people put crushed tomatoes on bread. Maybe they made monkey sausage. Monkeyroni! Who knows.

All I know, is you just made me want a pepperoni pizza pretty bad.

Air dried sausages and flat breads have been around for thousands of years. All you can do is imagine who first put them together - with whatever else was lying around..

(Of course, it all depends on your definition of 'pepperoni' and 'pizza' - It's kinda like the 'Sandwich' debate)

I always like to think that a bacon and egg breakfast was popular ten thousand years ago too - it's perfectly possible :D

Cheers

His name in fact was....

(drum roll pease..)

Papa Pepe Pepperoni

I got this information from a reliable source from my uncle.

He also invented the all male party where women were in fact invited but none would come....Dubbed the sausage party.

Cui Bono?
