Who owns the infrastucture of the Internet?
This crops up for me from time to time.

We rely on DNS servers on the commercial Internet [the one you are on right now] these belong to someone.
The phone lines are all owned and so are the telecommunication companies who provide net access and wireless networks etc.

Anyone got any hard information on who owns the show?

Shareholders of the telephone companies I think.

Shareholders have to buy shares from a company.
Any idea who the companies are?

Thanks SG.

Part of why this came up for me was after a very interesting incident on the net on another unmentionable site, my system got destroyed..several times.
After two days of messing around formating I got my system operating and completely clean. I installed protection and went on-line.

After an hour when ever I used Google it would show all the search results for any search but any I clicked on would take me to the same site [a travel site in OZ] didn't matter which search result I clicked on it would do the same. So I used Alta Vista and it worked normally. This went on for two days.

The only way I can see for a person to do this [or organization] is to have access to Google and/or the DNS level of control at Google.
It was a demonstration of who I was messing with and their connections. It was only Google though, not any other search engine.

They had me pegged well, they had hidden the Viruses [rootkit] in my music knowing most people are loath to delete all of their music as a precaution, they had labeled it as an MP3 and called it predictable it wasn't until I set up on a cleaned Hard drive and did not bring anything from my previous hard drive over that I got a stable system.

I have always wondered what sort of connection you would need to pull that google trick, and that was after I had cleaned and installed afresh system.

I tracked a lot of the Malware to Chinese sites where Western hackers hang out at, hidden among lots of Chinese stuff.
Slick operators.

I still wonder what they thought they were trying to prove.

I thought the Banking cartels owned the infrastructure of the Net as they were the first people to use it to transfer money securely over Phone lines and satellite connections.

They are pretty good at setting up corporations who appear to have no connection to them, but it always turns out the controllers of these corporations are the super best friends of the Banking Cartels.

In NZ we are mainly a cashless society and have been for 25 years, all transactions over Phone lines. It is called Eftpost over here.

Just had a quick flick I will read more later but I always thought AT&T came from Bell Labs and that was a military orientated corporation or rather they had lots of military and government contracts. That was where the Transistor was developed.[reverse engineered]

There should be a dns map file on your hard drive, I think.

You aint no Elmer, or Daffy, even Bugs had a carrot dangled in front of him, he saw the string nor the stick, but knew the source.

Ma Bell is a good start, you will end up with 187 companies that own all the rest, the globe.

They merged with Southwestern Bell most recently. They have or had a property named Bell Labs that was a crown jewel. I think they could have spun it off or sold it (Lucent bought it?), but not sure. Most of the Bell firms are regulated by the countries they reside in to make sure most citizens are treated fair and don't charge more than a reasonable amount for their capital outlay and risk. Other than that they are for profit.

Those annual reports have good info in them like lawsuits that can be cross referenced. One I noticed in that report has to do with 9/11. They also show markups and competitors, etc.

We sold off the national Phone company in NZ after 87, part of the loan deal was to sell off state owned assets. It is called Telecom NZ, we have the Telstra Clear network here and many cellphone companies do collaborations here.

All profits made by Telecom NZ are sent off shore. They are regulated but grudgingly. They make around a three quarters of billion dollars off NZ every year, we only have 4.2 million people
