Why I have never voted
I've been around the bend a few times, seen the politicians ramble, lived through their policies, and have already lived long enough to see, that no politician should ever be trusted, no government employees should ever be taken at their word, and no reason to doubt the "lack of honesty" that those that are of "civilian government" should ever be given a moments rest..
I've "abstained" from ever voting, because I have had a life long experiment in this, since I was in first grade...
I've been around long enough to see when voter age was reduced to 18 from 21, lived through the time of drinking age being 18, and always ahead of the "three step process" of seeing it jump a year or two,,
I've been around (as you can see)...
There was an older person when I was in first grade who gave me a piece of advice about voting:
He said that voting is not a matter of picking one over the other, it is a matter of what meets what you "believe in" regardless of outcome..If you cannot believe in anyone, then simply "do not vote" as that is called the "silent majority"..
The silent majority is not a bad place to be, it means that you "abstained" from voting, it means that you cannot "trust" those who want to be your representative for POTUS, and if enough have not voted, then the election process has to start again..
I was in first grade when I was taught this...
I then decided (more on instinct then not) that I needed to see which candidate would best tell me the truth, "A' simple truth, one that represents what is already reality...
Years (decades) go by, and to this date, (until now that is) I have never seen a candidate that would have the peoples interests at heart...
Ron Paul is the first time in decades, that I have seen one person which a record of 30 years (+) that shows he has stayed steadfast in his processes in a world of corruption..
"YET!"...
I will refrain from voting now, because the basic truth this person left me with is simply this:
Many talk, and can sound convincing, even go as far as to throw a few table scraps to the people to keep them well fed, but to "walk the walk" for the entire fours years of status as POTUS, will then (and ONLY then) be cause for this person, to receive my vote (my very first one EVER!)...
If Ron Paul Makes it, and we have four years of him doing "EXACTLY" as he said it will be, then (and ONLY then !!) will I feel confidant in casting a vote..
But not until then...
I was taught that voting for the lesser of two evils, is STILL evil in itself.. A vote should be held with the highest honor, the highest respect one can give, for the gratis return of being lucky enough to be born in this country of the sovereign u.s.
It is the one job (when one reaches adult age by law) that requires the utmost care in making, and if neither party or worth voting for?.. Then you simply "abstain" from voting, and become the silent majority (which is a force to be reckoned with) which will cause a restart of the process...
I have one duty assigned to me by birth:
That duty is to make sure that all government (ever last damn one of them!!) follows the guidelines of the Constitution, which has the Bill Of Rights, and the groundwork of the Declaration Of Independence" tied into it!..
I will not vote this election, not because I do not believe in Ron Paul "MESSAGE".. no..
It is because in the decades I have lived through, "NO ONE!!" has ever "DESERVED" my vote!!...
I "support" his message of getting back to the Constitution" BUT!!, until he actually walks the walk for the entire four years, I will not have faith in the man sitting in the seat of POTUS...
If I die never having voted, then I die having understood, that we have never had ANYONE!!" worth voting for..
I hope this is not the same rhetoric I have endured for so long..
A vote is very important, you do not throw it away because you feel it needs to be finished, no.. you "HANG ON" to it, until someone is what you believe in...
I am old school (as you can tell by now.. ) .. and I was taught a simple lesson by life itself:
Many can talk the talk, it is cheap, inexpensive, and costs nothing but a moment of mental exercise, but to walk the walk, to actually do what you say you want or can do, is a long, hard road, with ZERO!! appreciation, and in the end, you may even be forgotten about, but the walk is worth it, when the results speak for themselves...
Ron Paul will have to do this for my vote, my "FIRST TIME EVER" vote, before I "reelect him" to POTUS...
That is Why I have NEVER voted...
Infinity is just a Name... It's Application however, is "Forever"...

RE: Why I have never voted
If you don't vote, you shouldn't b*tch about the canditates available and what happens.
We vote as a household. I sign the ballot, he makes the decisions. There is only one thing more assinine than not voting IMO, is voting aginast each other.

So you're happy with voting and accepting your chains of slavery.
With no one voting for any candidate there would have to be real change.
They cannot simply put people in office without showing their hand.

actually, i can't think of anything more "assinine" than your response. are you kidding me? your husband makes the decision and you just sign your name? OMG. don't you have a mind of your own? and who cares if your vote differs from his...is that what it's really about? each person who votes casts THEIR OWN voice in an election. nice to know your voice has been silenced, and you have surrendered that right to your husband. i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you're both born-again Christians? may not be accurate, but in my experience, the probability is very high that you are.
and for what its worth, i've never voted any election either for the same reasons and i agree with the OP 100%. it's called "Abstention". why don't you look it up? it's a valid choice when it comes to voting and the UN members do it all the time when they don't agree with something.

Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain,' but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created."

RE: Why I have never voted
If we both chose a different candidate, it would nullify our votes. Two votes are better than none.

RE: Why I have never voted
I'd agree regarding what voting should be (other than voting after the fact), but there are two things I've learned about this country, as well:
1) Voting really has nothing to do with who's "elected" to the office of president. To continue to vote is to continue to play the game as TPTB have designed. Bread and circuses.
2) The president is effectively picked by the governorship of the Democratic and Republican party. Nothing else.
There are plenty of honest, trustworthy, capable leaders in this country, but none of them will ever be selected by one of the two major parties to become president. Anyone who would pass the selection process must necessarily be on-board with the program, so to speak.

RE: Why I have never voted
Well it doesn't really matter anyways. The big issues in your life come from private institutions anyways. Your money, your job, your food, your house, your clothes, your energy, it is all coming from corporations.
The quality, the amount and such do not depend on government.
And well, you have no say and no insight into corportions.
Time is a great teacher, unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

I agree. Completely ignorant response but if you follow her....she is his slave. She's convinced herself this is a "normal" relationship but it's clear who holds all the power. This is a woman who clearly is controlled but in deep, deep denial. Too bad you can't in this day and age, vote for yourself regardless of what your "husband" (and i use that term lightly) may think.....

No matter who you vote for the two party system still leads down the same road. Big business runs this country and it doesn't matter who is in office.

Most people don't see this.
Very true.
