That to me is being dogmatic.
I'm sure I just pissed somebody off.

Dogmatism, as you all seem to like to refer to it, is the difference between taking a stand and standing on the middle line, hoping that it all evens out in the end, somehow... that it 'balances.' It won't.
But, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, either... and I don't. Lol...
...what is this which is written in the Tanakh, `'The very rock which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?

RE: Why Is The Alternative Crowd So Dogmatic?
It is a difficult position for many.
Once removed from a system of controlled thinking a person will grasp for something to believe in if they do to have flexible mind, so they put as much belief in the alternative view as they used to in the orthodox view and they cannot find a middle ground.
Basically they cannot think for themselves.
I have to say I know things that absolutely cannot be verified by anyone else.
I have seen things where I was the only witness.
I see connections that other people don't bother looking at or are blind to.
It is easier to conclude we all live in our own separate realities, and we are all mad.
Something I had written about madness previously.
Madness. What is it?
Basically believing something that isn't true and making it real for you. In this respect we see the whole world is suffering from madness.
It is madness that is letting crazy things happen around the world on the small and large scale, because people believe in things that aren't true and cannot see the truth, or don't want to they think to advantage themselves in thinking things that benefit them [things they wish or hope were true rather than reality itself which is also largely subject and perspective based in its interpretation.
Why?
There are many reasons for inventing a world that suits you, but what suits you and why did you believe and want this is part of the whole deal as well.
What you believe comes true for you. Does it affect the whole of reality? If everyone believes your point of view then it does on a sociological scale.
Hypnoses. The effects of which are to block out reality and believe what has been put into your subconscious mind with such a totality that you believe it. When confronted with reality the mind finds a way to integrate it into the existing belief structure, in any way it will fit regardless of the lack of linear sense at times. This inhibits the person from finding out the truth of their situation because of the underling belief structure already present.
When a person gets rid of the original belief structure it is often traumatic as the mind wants to grasp on to beliefs and structures as one of its pattern seeking interpretation aspects of decoding the very reality we see around us.
Got to go, later guys. I have to exercise my madness.

Actually I was using the more established definition:
dogmatism
1. a statement of a point of view as if it were an established fact.
2. the use of a system of ideas based upon insufficiently examined premises

RE: Why Is The Alternative Crowd So Dogmatic?
Alternative media?
I've been poking around since I had an internet connection which was a bit late, probably 1998?
Pretty new to conspiracy boards, but pretty good at poking around for news, and alt info.
I've rebuilt my bookmarks lists from scratch many times, never did organize them very well;)
But there are definately some mainstream "alternative" personalities, sites, films, and most of these have their own themes.
So I started out "learning" alternative views, and replacing my previous views with those.
And regurgitating those views to people I knew, trying to be accurate about what I was describing.
So that's self-indoctrination of sorts. And it's really a pretty narrow field of sources/aggregators. All tolled probably less than 100 I spent significant time looking at. And since 911 faded much fewer.
These days, there's only a few sites I frequent, and I spend a lot more time digging for my own facts and news items.
As far as being pig-headed goes, I'm open to facts that discredit what I think, but sometimes I'm a dick, when shilling my stuff, or attacking somebody else's.
Not out of malice really, just for fun and to try for a lively discussion.
I like it when people play Devil's advocate sometimes, I should do more of that.
Some people do it really well. Not straw man nonsense, good discussion technique.

Early on I noticed myself replacing my mainstream dogmatism with the Alex Jones crowd dogmatism.
Thankfully that phase didn't last long.
I noticed that I tended to try out different dogmatism in a futile effort to find one that I was wholly comfortable with. I never found one.
So now I'm a flip-flopper, what I think today is not the same as what I thought yesterday and it is not the same as what I will think tomorrow.
I find that works much better for me.

What's important is to not let one become so indoctrinated in their own belief structures that it become like concrete, thoroughly mixed up, and permanently set!!
.
If it seeketh, expects, or demands worship, it is not divine!!
If an entity were not judgmental and if an entity were not controlling then it would have no need to be either just nor "merciful" in the first place now would it!? - Cosmah

"I'm Alex Jones, you are all going to die from FEMA Camps, Terrorists, Aliens, and kiddie-loving psychopaths who run a organisation called the Illuminati. give me $50 for my new DVD and you too can be one step closer to 'the truth', BUY BUY BUY my new DVD, you're not enlightened without it."
The oldest con-trick in the book. Making people feel they are a part of something over a common cause, if you entice them to buy the books/DVDs. Of course this 'truth' is never revealed, but promised so in the next book coming out.

I didn't dive right into that, he kinda rubbed me the wrong way, but I started by watching some of his films, and gradually could tolerate the show. I don't mind the drama or the commercialism, it was the negativity and coarseness that bugged me at first.
But I started out kind of a greenie liberal. So Amy Goodman, Noam Chomsky, Buzzflash, truthout, etc. Greg Palast....
Then of course WRH, Rense, Whale,
FTW(Ruppert), 911 blogger ,
And I subscribe to some right winger emails.
I'm not anti-greenie liberal now, or anti-republican, or whatnot.
And that's just three categories of stuff, imagine a lot more sites, but that's kinda where I started.
That's a lot of dogma mixed into some good news aggregators.
If we did a top 50 Alt reporters/sites, for LOPERS, I'll bet I spent a lot of time at all of them.
And I bet there's a top 10 most people have spent the most time at.
So it's not really that alty is it?
