LoP Guest Wrote:NEESIE Wrote:LoP Guest Wrote:So many unbelievers sound brainwashed. They keep repeatng the same comments that again and again and again. The minds of some unbeliever seem like recordings that are set on repeat. It's kinda funny because they call Christians brainwashed but seem completely unaware how brainwashed they themselves sound.

Thank you dear sister.
I do not want to get into a figtht with you all, just looking for some healthy discussion.
First I would like to point out that what "we" are saying as you call "repeat" words, has been around for what? 100 years? More vocally it has become in the last 50 years.
And whatever people are saying about religion, religious people have for thousands of years had only a book to support their view, while the other side has quite a wide arrey of topics which cover religion from a more astute and logical point of view.
So for as to who is on "repeat" function I would not even argue about it.
As for all other things... have you ever just for a second thought that since the Bible was written by the order of Roman empire, which we know wanted to rule the world, that jsut maybe they wanted the Bible to be their tool in doing so?
Just maybe? And that you must take it as that? A book written loosly on "real" ancient events but manipulated for the cause of the empire?
No? That does not sound logical?
How about that your "God - YHWH" had a wife?
How about that Beelzebub is derived from Ba'al... the ancient "God" that stood against "YHWH"?
Just want to know your input on that... these things we know for a fact from archeological digs and discoveries.
But the Bible somehow fails to mention that... on quite a few occasions the Bible was even mistranslated from the old testament on purpose.
If that doesn't sound a bell in a rational thinking being, then the being is not rational let alone thinking.
Apart from that, I do allow possibility of a superior beings as well as a universal force which a person could call "God"... but I do not think it is a man with a beard watching over our every move. That's just silly.

I have to say that when I look at the incredible complexity and delicate calibration of the physical universe, even if I had never read the Bible or been told that there is a God, I would believe in God. The beauty and balance and intricate harmony in the the innumerable parts of this visible universe practically FORCES any thinking, rational human being to believe in an intelligent Creator. The Bible provides the specifics of this Wonderful Creator, and delivers His guidance to us on the Way to Eternal Happiness.
God bless everyone here, even the unbelievers! Be back in a while.

RE: Why are those who aren't religious feel the need to mock those who are?
We have outgrown religion and see that it is incompatible with the world we need. I have no problem with faith, it is when you "know" you have the "truth" and want the world your way.
I think we can all agree that man has screwed up this planet. Instead of awaiting the return of some mythical creature, why don't we take responsibility for the mess and manage our world? Stop doing things to please someone invisible and start doing it because it is right?
We know there is a huge AIDS problem in Africa and starvation. Instead of giving them bibles, let us teach them about birth control and help them manage their own countries. Let us start by being self sufficient. Instead of praying let us do something. Let us stop looking to God to solve our problems. And if he doesn't agree with our solution then he can institute his own.
This is what I see as the real issue. The time and energy spent arguing over dogma could be directed at real challenges. The money poured into lavish buildings could solve the health care crisis. The wars could end and we could colonize space.
That is my problem with religion. It keeps us stuck because of a belief in some supernatural being who is going to fix the world. Maybe Jesus will return, but in the meantime, let us make our own decisions for what is best and we'll deal with him if he ever arrives.

I almost don't even know how to handle such rational and intelligent posts these days. I commend you on your eloquent and logical post, and hope that some of your logic permeates the minds of those who are unwilling to accept the idea of possibly being misinformed. THIS is the very thing that send me over the edge when it comes to religion. The closed mindedness, and acceptance of circular logic.

well, I do bless you and respect how you feel. It just Isnt the same way that i feel. I was once a hardcore atheist. but one day i found myself telling my young nephews that God did not exist.
It later occured to me that I really didnt have anything to base that opinion on. And it frightened me that i was telling my nephews something that could end up destroying them. This made me want to do some research before i opened my mouth on the subject again.
that was a few years ago, I have since learned that there are very many signs that indicate an intelligent creator. and that Jesus christ and pontius pilate did exist!!
and the reason i believe that the God I now love is the God of the bible is because the bible is the oldest. This would indicate that it is a guidebook for the creation. Inside this book is an answer for almost any scenario. It explains the whole shebang, who, what, where, when and why. I would dare you to find these things elsewhere, the koran came out after the torah and much has been copied from scripture.
I just don't want others to condemn themselves the same way that i did. I have ruined my one nephew against God, but the other one knows that God does exist.

you seem to be under the false assumption made by countless religious people...in that..
one must worship/ believe in a religion/ religious text, in order to also believe in a possible divine creator.
the religions and religous texts are just propagnda tools used by the elitists, to make people think they need those venues, to believe in a divine creator.

RE: Why are those who aren't religious feel the need to mock those who are?
i make fun because half of them don't even know their religion these girls tried to get me to go to easter service they said it was jesus birthday lol. I explained easter is pagan an the bunny is the god of fertility. Symbol for playboy. but combining paganism was brought about thru king james and constatine. but altering the bible so many times an going along with establishment religion soon jesus will have bunny ears or the bunny will be the 13 disciple.
I only talk trash to wake up an the christian church supports israel its not about being holly or in search of yeshua or immanuel not the Its zionism its genocide its the destruction of knowledge in all forms people want real truths an sound faith before we put belief in sumthing.
If the gods wanted us to follow them or worship them or whatever they would make themselves known. But i think its more than that i want truth in a world full of lies an the most serenity i get is when im surrounded by nature.[/i]

Thank for your honesty, and sorry in advance since I am going to be honest too.
I was a hardcore atheist myself about 6 years ago, the thought of even thinking about the Bible as being something else than a fairy tale made me laugh and want to argue with whoever was defending it.
Then I started to do a bit of research of myself and during the years came to a completely different view of everything. I would not go into complete details as this would not be the point of this debate.
What I would like to point out at first is that your first desire to know about Bible was not a desire of knowledge or truth but a desire of feeling safe and guarded. And the sole reason for that is fear.
Fear is the core mechanics of the Bible and religion, without fear, there is no worship and no religion.
So your quest that you enbarked was for wrong reasions and if you search for without a right reasion you find the wrong answer.
And fear is a negative energy... And the Bible thrives on it.
As for your quite silly remark about the most ancient... are you for real?
You have Vedas in India that are thousands of years older and tell the whole story of the Earth in a very more logical way.
You have Sumerian tablets that predate Israeli of an ancient religion that deals with the subject also in a more logical way.
And while we're at it... Israeli- Jewish religion came from the Ka'anite religion of multiple "Gods" which then the Jewish empire completely destroyed and covered almost all traces of their previous religion.
The very true and undeniable fact is that ALL present day "Christian" (Christian, Muslim, Jewish) are based on Pagan religions of multiple dieties. Even the stories are almost completely the same apart from the names.
Let us call a truce to terror. Let us invoke the blessings of peace. And as we build an international capacity to keep peace, let us join in dismantling the national capacity to wage war.

RE: Why are those who aren't religious feel the need to mock those who are?
I guess its this simple..
most religious people are brainwashed to believe that :
being a religious person, trumps being a good person, in the eyes of our creator ?
that really is the basis of their belief system.
utterly insane to me.
[/quote]
therefore, in the realm of the religious world...
a person who has spent their time and money, helping others in need, caring for the sick , being honest, and respecting nature/ life, will burn in hell if they dont also properly worship the right religion.
BUT..
a person who did not engage in such feats of giving and love on earth, but worshipped the right religion, will go to heaven.
wow...what a f*cked up set of dogmas.

I fear God, as is proper. But Really I LOVE God. It is very simple.
The biblical record is relatively silent about much of this period, although it does provide some hints. After Babel, the earth’s population became divided by language, and the different language groups became scattered all over the earth and ultimately formed their own culture (Gen. 11:8–9). As noted above, views about God and religious practice are a central part of culture. It is clear from the Babel account that even before the dispersion, humans had already begun to forget or suppress the truth about God. It is at this point in the Genesis account, after Babel, that we meet Abram. There is no indication in the account why God chose to call him to the land Canaan. Presumably Abram was a man who retained some knowledge of the one true God, so God chose him and his family to be His special people.

RE: Why are those who aren't religious feel the need to mock those who are?
somehow, having total fear, but total love for our supposed all loving and caring creator, seems strange to me.
In fact, I doubt a true divine and caring creator, would want their creations to live in fear of their creator.
but then again..it all boils back down to religions , and the dogmas they must promote to gain new members and make monetary tax free profits.
without fear involved, religions would lose many of its cult members.
because the cult members need to believe that each cult is the only correct cult, and all others will persih in hell and pain.
BUT
if you practice the correct cult, you get divine rewards.
YEP...
FEAR- PUNISHEMENT---REWARDS
all 3 play a major role in the brainwashing religious agendas.
