Just a friendly reminder that the Amanitas mushroom is not only one of the most psychoactive fungi in the world, but also one of the most toxic. The reindeer know what they're doing, they've had thousands of years to get it down, but most of you, on the other hand... don't.

There are friendlier varieties, and I'd hate to see any of you go sailing away on a one-way ride...

One thing I've never understood about the amanita muscaria theory is that amanita muscaria is very unreliable at producing quality visionary experience. In Siberia, it's probably the only thing they have available, but once something like psilocybes, ayahuasca, or cacti comes along, the amanita looks pretty lame by comparison. Work with what your region provides I guess. Some people drink cacti sludge that tastes like bile mixed with cat spray, or drink your shrooms out of reindeer piss!

LOL, true, used to be in Siberia that the Shaman would eat the amanita preperation, then his body transforms the stuff into a better form from some sort of reaction, then his piss is loaded with purified psychedelics. Rumor has it that they used to drink reindeer piss for the same reason.

Also, they'd roast the mushrooms over the fire by hanging them in socks to make them dry. Stockings hung by the fire with care....in the hopes that a psychedelic fairy soon would be there....
